French online games: Consultations pending the revision of the law
After the recent conference on the liberalization of French market of gambling and online poker that had as theme "One year after its adoption, which implementation to the law about the liberalization of online gambling ?" of Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Maison de la Chimie, this current week will perhaps clarify the status of online poker players in France. Even though most of participants expected from this meeting more interesting issue, expect some interventions of operators and their experiences in the system for those few months of opening of the market, other news may be revealed in the next days. Indeed, several meetings have already been initiated by Senator Trucy, appointed by the President of the Senate Finance Committee and the poker community of the Hexagon are on the way.

Cercle Wagram Main Event: A first success for Lucille Cailly
The monthly poker tournament for the third month of the year 2011 of the Cercle Wagram was played in the evening of Saturday 26 of March. Although the influx of participants was not as much as expected during this new edition with a Main Event of 1,000 buy-in, as a field consisting of only 97 players were recorded, the progress of the party in general was very exciting, especially when the moment when last 10 survivors of the final table faced each other. Most of players who reached this final round were in general well known faces because only a few of them are for the first time at this stage of play.

EPT: Only a few days before the stage of Berlin from April 5 to 10
The second edition of the European Poker Tour Berlin (EPT) will be held from April 5 to 10, 2011 in the poker room of the Grand Hyatt Hotel. After the unfortunate incident that somewhat blackened the reputation of the German capital as host city of the EPT, the event will be back there and it's sure that the organizers have taken the precaution to avoid the recurrence of such disaster. As reminder, the EPT Berlin 2010 was a real success in terms of participation as 945 players were registered and a total prize pool of 3.5 million has been collected. During this 2011 edition, Kevin McPhee will have to defend his title but other players like Mark Inizan also expect a better performance because last year, he were qualified at the 3rd place of the tournament.

World Poker Tour Vienna: Another Russian feat
Russian players have more and more success in major poker tournaments. After the stunning triumph of Natalia Nikitina at the World Poker Tour National Series (WPT) in Paris and the victory of Vladimir Geshkenbein at the European Poker Tour Snowfest that has just ended, another Russian won the super trophy of the WPT Vienna. Indeed, Dmitry Grimov, who first made talk about him by winning the title of the Russian Poker Series of Kiev and his coronation at the Venetian Las Vegas Deepstack Extravaganza in July 2010 was crowned champion of the WPT Vienna. After having played poker against 554 opponents, a field which had among its members the best in the poker world, this young player managed to win and finished at the first spot of the tournament.

Google marks Robert Bunsens 200th birthday
Robert Bunsen was a German scientist you may have heard of before. The scientist who was born in the German town of Göttingen in 1811 invented the Bunsen burner which was named after him. The Bunsen burner was a big improvement in comparison to other laboratory burners that were used at the time it was invented. To date, the Bunsen burner is probably one of the most used laboratory equipments all over the world as it manages to produce a single gas flame that can be used for all kinds of laboratory work like for example to heat up substances rather quickly.

WSOP Circuit: Seneca Easely as champion of Rincon step
The World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOP-C) stopped in southern California during last weekend. This new stage took place in the poker room Harrah's Rincon and a field of 188 participants was recorded during the main event of $ 1,600. Many great players like Dwite Pylgrim, Phil Hellmuth, Kyle Bowker, Adam Levy, Jerry Yang and Sam Chauhan were present but none of them managed to reach the final table of the event. Having started the final as chip leader, Seneca Easely won this step despite the presence of the World Poker Tour champion Michael Simon and the star of Rincon Alex Masek in the list of finalists. For this brilliant victory, Easely won a prize of $ 70,384, a place in the $ 1 million tournament and the precious ring of the WSOP-C. Alex Masek, Michael Simon, Lori Nunes, Hayden Fortini, Patrick Karschamroon, Narinder Khasria and Shaun Walker ranked respectively from 9th to second place.

Cannes Croisette Hold'em Series: A third edition to be played in 3 days

WPT Vienna: The Russian Dmitry Gromov chip leader at the final table
The start of the final table of the World Poker Tour Vienna (WPT) of this day looks pretty rough and the victory is not acquired even for the favorites. Grandes Ecoles Poker Tour 2011: The title to Kevin Fleer of ESC Grenoble
28 French high schools and universities were present at the casino Tranchant of Pougues-les-Eaux on last Saturday, March 26 at the final of the Grandes Ecoles Poker Tour 2011. A third edition in which the few hundred lucky players among the thousand claimants lived a friendly atmosphere during the Main Event tournament. Shortly after the start of the game, a first player has already been eliminated from the competition. Alternately until round No. 9, lot of participants had to leave the circuit with the defending champion Pierrick Jamal, this time ranked at the 85th place and the representative of woman players, Diane Nevot de Guisa. Wynn Classic Las Vegas: Annette Obrestad on the podium again
The young Norwegian Annette Obrestad aka Annette_15 experienced a sudden popularity in the poker world with her extraordinary feat in the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE). She then made several good courses in various major poker tournaments and her last great achievement reach back in September 2010, when she won the Heads'Up championship tournament of £ 5,000 during the European Poker Tour London. Since that date, she didn't recorded a great success. But last Saturday, this period of bad luck just quit her because Annette_15 managed to climb onto the podium of the poker room of Wynn Casino in Las Vegas. EPT Snowfest: Russian victory signed by Vladimir Geshkenbein
The audience of the poker room of the Alpine Palace Card Casino assisted a unique final table last Friday. Indeed, having started on March 19, the European Poker Tour Snowfest (EPT) indeed ended by crowning the Russian Vladimir Geshkenbein as champion. Note that the main event of 3,750 gathered at this year's edition some 482 participants, generating a prize pool of 1,636,390. After the removal of the majority of these competitors, the final table started on Friday. Having acquired the place of chip leader on Day 4, the Italian Giacomo Maisto failed to keep that advantage until the end of the game but settled for the 4th place pocketing a bonus of 100,000. The Belgian Philip Meulyzer, the Irishman Denis Murthy, the Dane Morten Mortensen respectively finished 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th.

Irish Poker Open 2011: Poker pros will be there on April

Night of Poker: A charity tournament for Life Rolls On foundation
Life Rolls On foundation was founded by Jesse Billauer in order to assist young people with spinal cord injury. Affected by this problem when he wanted to shine as a professional surfer, Billauer wanted to offer to people suffering from this disease new hope for a better future despite their physical disabilities. To raise the necessary funds to support this project, Life Rools cooperate with the poker star Annie Duke to organize the first annual event "Night of Poker" to be held on May 7, 2011 in Gardena, California. Note that Annie Duke is well known by the community of poker players and poker club with her generosity and her willingness to help others. She supported numerous charitable events to name the Ante Up for Africa and Annie Duke's Celebrity Poker Night held in the poker room of Commerce Casino in Los Angeles.

EPT Champion of Champions: The winner of the EPT Snowfest also qualified
The Gran Casino of Madrid will have the great honor to host the first ever European Poker Tour Champion of Champions tournament that will be played there after the Grand Final of May 13, 2011. For this new event, the organizers had the wonderful idea of bringing together on a unique freeroll table all holders of EPT title since the first tournament in 2004 to the recent winners of all EPT stages like that of Austria, the EPT Snowfest, Berlin, Madrid and San Remo of this season 7 of the current circuit. EPT Snowfest Day 4: A good day for Belgian players
Despite their low turnout during Day 4 which is the last day of the Main Event of the European Poker Tour Snowfest, estimated at 2% of the field, Belgian poker players more than excelled in this fourth day of the European circuit. CNIC 2011: This year's championship at Amnéville

EPT Snowfest Day 3: Giacomo Maisto as chipleader
The third day of competition at the European Poker Tour Snowfest 2011 (EPT) started yesterday Wednesday, March 23 at 2:00 p.m in the poker room of the Alpine Palace Card Casino. It was a short day because it took only 5 levels of play to determine the 24 qualifiers for Day 4. Unfortunately, all representatives of France failed to qualify for this field more and more restricted. Indeed, the last French present on the gaming tables of the EPT Snowfest who were Dominic Franchi, Sebastien Bidinger, Yoran Kerignard and Bruno Martin were successively eliminated before the end of Day 3. They however reached paid places. The Italian Luca Pagano also finished in the money at this competition. He has therefore currently 18 cashes in the EPT circuit, which proves his consistency.

EPT Snowfest Day 2: Only 81 competitors in the race at the end of the day
After the first two qualifying days, 268 competitors were able to resume and play in the poker room of the Alpine Palace Card Casino for the Day 2 of the European Poker Tour tournament Snowfest (EPT) 2011. A large crowd of players and players like Manuel Bevand, Liv Boeree, Dominik Nitsche, Martin Rettenmaier, Josh Prager, Kevin Stani, Vitaly Lunkin, Martin Jacobson, Maxime Conte Anton Wigg or Christophe Monin have already said goodbye to title of this Austrian competition. Indeed, there were only 81 survivors at the end of the day and battle was very eventful on gaming tables The pressure was strong enough during the last hours of play because every competitor played poker with their best assets to try to attempt to take back home the 390,000 for the eventual winner, or at least qualify for the some 72 places paid.

EPT Snowfest, Day 1B: Vladimir Geshkenbein, chip leader for the Day 2
The second Day1 of the European Poker Tour Snowfest went as planned in the hall of Alpine Palace Casino on Monday, March 21, 2011. A second day that saw as promised the participation of long-awaited big names of poker who come from both poker club but also professionals of online poker rooms. Thus, they were among 302 players who came there to take part in the main tournament of 3.500 + 250. With this second qualifying day of the Main Event of this 2011 edition of the EPT Snowfest, the expected prize pool is valued at over 1.6 million if added with the 180 other participants of the first day of Day1. Therefore, the future winner of the EPT Snowfest 2011 will leave with a gain of around 400,000. In addition, a minimum amount of 5,250 will be awarded to some 72 top players in this competition.

European Poker Tour Snowfest: A slight decline in attendance at the 1st day
The European Poker Tour Snowfest (EPT) started on last Sunday. For the first qualifying day, 180 players joined the poker room of the Alpine Palace Card Casino in Austrian Alps, in Hinterglemm to participate in this great event. Meanwhile, before the starting of the meeting, everyone walked the ski slopes for a few hours of skiing. This Day 1A has not been as successful as the previous edition. Thus, the field of 546 registered participants during the EPT Snowfest 2010 will not be reached. However, action will be present at this event because players in this poker room are ready to offer the best of themselves to take the title of this main event of 3,500 buy-in.

Mazagan Poker Million: Jean-Paul Pasqualini at the top of the podium
The Mazagan Poker Million was played during the last 3 days of last week, from Friday, March 18 to early morning of Monday, March 21, 2011 in Morocco. An investment of 3,150 was required from each participant to sit in this tournament that has as structure 60,000 chips for rounds of 50 minutes. By finishing first among the 253 players who participated at the Grosvenor United Kingdom Poker Tour London (GUKPT) and ousting Manig Loeser during the final heads'up, Praz Bansi has just confirmed once again that he is a very good poker player. With this new victory, Bansi achieved a historic double, he was indeed the champion of the GUKPT Bolton 2007. Besides that, he also holds two titles of the World Series of Poker (WSOP). At the meeting in London, Bansi faced however many great players but, with some techniques specific to him, the star of the Hit Squad reached the victory and pocketed for that feat a superb gain of £ 101,020. Big Game 5th edition: Dusk Till Dawn will receive the event on april
From April 15 to 17, the fifth edition of the popular TV show Big Game will be held at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham. Last year, the Londoner club Les Ambassadeurs had the privilege to host this poker championship. Cataclysm in Japan: Mobilization of poker players to help
For a week, the whole world followed closely the evolution of the disaster in Japan that has just been struck by a violent earthquake and a tsunami killing many people and causing extensive damage. Currently, the country is in a very sad situation and with the threat of a nuclear crisis, people there are living an anxious situation. The poker community hasn't remained insensitive to such tragedies. Indeed, the terrible event took place at the same time as the beginning of the final of The Big Event at the Bicycle Casino. Players were then able to watch live this tragedy. The two finalists Joe Hachem and his opponent in the final duel Victor Ramdim even proposed to postpone the rest of the tournament at this time.

Derby Poker Championship: Phil Hellmuth invites players to another charity
Despite his behavior a bit extravagant, Phil Hellmuth has a great generosity. Indeed, Phil Hellmuth continues to invest heavily in organizing various charity tournaments to fund charities. UKIPT Manchester: Victory of Matthew McDerra
The tournament United Kingdom & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) held in the poker room of the G Casino in Manchester attracted a large number of poker enthusiasts. Indeed, 615 players competed in five days to win the title and the £ 74,000 bonus of the £ 500 buy-in main event. Note that the prize pool collected amounted £ 307,500 and the 81 best players in the game were able to access the money list. Online gambling in France: A tax reform after May 2012
The establishment of the Consultative Committee of Games on Monday, March 14, 2011 was the occasion for the minister of Budget François Baroin to give more precision on the grievances of many online poker and sports betting sites about the change on the taxation of their activity and the extension of gambling license. The long-awaited tax reform by French operators of online poker and online gambling is not appropriate at the moment and will not happen this year. The new study of the current taxation of gambling and online poker considered as very high will wait until May 2012, after the presidential elections. Nevertheless, the first French official of State budget estimated that it's subservient to program for September 2011 the review of the law with a possible revaluation.

The Big Event Bounty Shootout: Nice victory of Pat Walsh
In total, 81 players composed of a good bunch of poker players participated in the Shootout Bounty Tournament of "The Big Event" which just concluded at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. Note that in this tournament, competitors must play poker at nine tables of nine players each. Only one competitor per table is qualified for the final table. However, throughout the tournament, the player who managed to eliminate an opponent receives a bounty of $ 2,000 during the first round and $ 10,000 in the final. Gianni Giaroni: Death of the Italian poker player pioneer
Usually discrete character as an avid practitioner of card playing during his lifetime, the Italian Gianni Giaroni was one of the first professional poker players of the Squadra Azura. Born in 1940 in the town of Ferrara, in Emilia Romagna, this aged poker player passed away last weekend at the hospital of Bologna, his adopted hometown at the age of 70 years. WSOPC: Brian Ali crowned champion at Caesars Atlantic
The $ 1,650 buy-in main event of the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOP-C) held in the poker room of Caesars Atlantic City attracted 442 players. The Big Event: Victory of Victor Ramdin
Finally, as it was augured last few days ago, the champion title of the tournament The Big Event was granted to Victor Ramdin. Despite the good start of Jeremy Ausmus, during the final table of this poker tournament in Los Angeles that brought together some 416 participants at the beginning, he failed to capitalize his advantage as chip leader and ended simply at the third place with a prize of $ 190,000. Ramdin, who led at the eve of the final was the best player of this final meeting. He overtook the other finalists with an excellent strategy. Basel: A club accused of organizing illegal poker tournaments
The Federal Commission of gambling and Gambling house in Switzerland organized a raid on a poker club in Basel. The reason of this visit by representatives of the Federal Gaming Board is that the poker club in question is suspected of organizing poker tournaments prohibited by law. At the scene, the 40 leaders of the Federal agents accompanied the Basel cantonal police found 40 players participating in a tournament. None of these players weren't arrested and they were free after the control of the authorities of Gambling house.

The Big Event: Jeremy Ausmus led the final
It remains only a few hours before the denouement of the former NAPT Los Angeles, called actually The Big Event. At the fourth day of competition, the 22 survivors meet again in the poker room of Bicycle Casino to try to be finalist of the event. It was a very eventful day and it took only 5 hours to differentiate the 8 competitors who will complete the final table of the first The Big Event. Marrakesh Poker Open XIX: A good start with the free tournament
The inaugural event of the Marrakesh Poker Open XIX (MPO) tournament delivered once again as promised a great poker event. Indeed, the launch of this event in the poker room of Casino Es Saadi in Marrakesh was marked by the presence of a large number of players who participate in the Freeroll Jack Daniel's. In fact, 153 players competed during this tournament with a prize pool of 10,531 which ended with a triumph of Ricardo Giacalone. He pocketed 10,531 for the occasion. Hairabedian father and son also made good course because Big Roger finished 13 th while Gregory managed to rank 10th. The MPO XIX will continue to amaze players with a whole series of interesting events in the program.

March: Magnificent events yet to come
Since the beginning of this month of March, several poker tournaments have already gathered players but also ordinary admirers of this game everywhere, both in France, on the European continent or in America. After an initial adjournment during the year 2010, the poker show Poker & Betting Show" scheduled to take place during the coming three days of April 1, 2 and 3, 2011 in Hall 5.1 of Parc des Expositions de la Porte Versailles, in France won't finally take place. The reason given by the organizers for this cancellation is the inability of the market of online games to meet the needs of the multitude of visiting clients, exhibitors, partners for this kind of event described as outstanding. National Heads-Up Poker Championships: Another victory for Erik Seidel
The year 2011 started very well for Erik Seidel. Fans of deepstack tournament met in the poker room of the Partouche Lyon Vert Casino during the Partouche Poker Deepstack (PPD) of this weekend. The event attracted 500 participants and demonstrate once again the popularity of this circuit. Note that the organizers set up a nice structure that allows to players present at the event to show their skills. The final day ended so quickly because the last 4 players in the race decided to make a deal. Indeed, Raphael Kohn, Alexandra Petitjean, Nicolas Kloeckner and Ludovic Heinry decided to stop playing and designate the winning player based on the number of chips in hand. WPT LA Poker Classic: Victory of the young Gregory Brooks

Phil Laak: Official entry in the Guinness Book of Records 2011
Great news for fans of poker in general and the concerned player in particular who is Phil Laak. In fact, the Guinness Book of World Records validated the performance established by Phil "Unabomber" in June of last year. To recall, it was during this period that American poker player held 115 hours without sleep on a poker table. Specifically he started playing on June 2, 2010 at 12:04 a.m and finish the game on June 7, at 7:04 a.m. Thus, he beat the previous world record of the longest poker game of 78 hours which was held by Paul Zimbler. For this incredible achievement, Phil Laak and his record of the man who played as long as possible in a poker game will therefore appeared in the Guinness Book of Records 2011.

Antilles Poker Tour: Another great poker circuit in perspective

A perfect alliance between Lothar Matthäus and Poker770
The alliance between Poker770 and one of German football's most famous players, Lothar Matthäus, has been officially announced, the latter becoming the official face of the poker site, part of the iPoker network. The imminence of this event had already been reported in January by Hochgepokert.com. Matthäus, who is 49 years old, works as the coach of the national football team of Bulgaria, he is now under contract with the well known online poker site. This is a first for this prestigious football idol who likes poker as a pastime helping him to relax during his spare time. He will participate in international poker tournaments but no date has yet been specified. He did not have much time to devote to poker, however, as the new Poker770 ambassador; he has already announced the kickoff of the German Championship Poker GCOP which will be held in the Casino Kings in the Czech Republic.

Poker: Different tournaments marked the last week of February
Last week, those who like playing poker in live tournament have been really spoiled because many events were in the program. WPT LA Poker Classic: Joe DeNiro leads temporary the $ 10,000 event
The poker room of the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles is a meeting point of poker stars who are currently competing for the prestigious title of World Poker Tour (WPT) LA Poker Classic. Indeed, the $ 10,000 buy-in event of the Commerce Casino was attended by 681 participants, most of whom are top players. EPT Snowfest: Poker and skiing on the Austrian Alps for March 20
The famous poker circuit European Poker Tour (EPT) chose once again to make a stop in the Austrian resort Alpine Palace from March 20 to 25, 2011. Big Poker Series Madagascar: The success was at the appointment
The third stop of the Big Poker Series has just ended. After Dakar and Marrakesh, it was the turn of the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo, to host the event. Despite the distance of this country, a few important delegation of French players were present at the casino of the Hotel Colbert to play poker during this Lemurian Poker Tour. The 500 side event attracted some players and ended with a victory of a local player Zouzou Hassim Azim. For the main event of 1,500 buy-in, 84 participants have been registered. It must be said that the tournament recorded a great success and participants told their satisfaction on the reception and the organization in general.

National Heads Up Poker Championship: A prize pool record of $ 1.8 million on March 4
As usual, and since its inception in 2005, the surprise was not at the rendezvous during the National Heads Up Poker Championship 2010 edition if we talk about the participants. The 64 players selected for the traditional poker heads up championship are all regulars with a few exceptions like Daniel jungleman12 Cates, Tom Marchese and Emmitt Smith who will be there on March 4, 2011 for their first participation. Moreover, some innovations have been introduced in the tournament itself like the buy-in that is around $ 25,000 instead of $ 20,000 as before. Thus, the prize pool rose to $ 1.8 million which is also a record never reached by the competition with a considerable sum of $ 750,000 to award to the winner of the tournament.
