Paris: A symposium on the liberalization of online gambling
On March 22, 2011 at the Maison de la Chimie in Paris, a symposium on the legalization of online gambling will be held under the patronage of the French Minister of Budget, Public Accounts, Civil Service and State Reform, François Baroin, the Senator Trucy and the deputy Jean-François Lamour. Indeed, one year after the opening of the market, the Authority of Regulation of Online Games or ARJEL granted approvals for many operators of sports betting and online poker. New online poker rooms have been created while some operators that have already offered their services for French gambling enthusiasts couldn't get licenses. At this symposium, a debate on the evaluation of actions of the ARJEL will be held. The crackdown and approval procedures will be discussed during this debate.
A round table on the clause of revision scheduled to be applicable at the end of this year is also in the program, a debate that players are waiting anxiously. A debate on public health is also planned at this event. The problems of addiction, protection of minors and preventive measures will be also discussed. Then there will be discussions on the reform of the French law of online gambling, including sports betting and online poker taking into consideration the European community and it will involve the participation of some Belgian and Italian actors on online poker and sports betting. Note that the Minister Baroin will be present at the Maison de la Chimie during this symposium.
