WPT Bay Shooting Stars: A turbulent start in San Jose
The adventure continues for poker enthusiasts because after the huge success of The Big Event tournament in Los Angeles, a new attractive poker appointment has just started in the poker room of Bay 101 Casino in San Jose, California. This is the World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Stars. 142 competitors registered to play poker at the first competition day of the event with $ 10,000 buy-in. And at the end of the day, there were only 57 competitors in the race to start the Day 2. As its name implies, the tournament should gather many stars and bounties are placed on their heads to reward the players that come to challenge them.
Thus, the field of that day 1A was composed by many renowned players. Some of them already experienced defeats, Frank Kassel, Freddy Deeb, Jeff Madsen, Dan Harrington, Victor Ramdim and Erik Seidel. Brian Smith, an American player who is still unknown to the public accomplished the greatest feat of the day and enthroned in the place of chip leader with 187,700 chips in hand. Even if he gained a fairly substantial number of tokens, nothing is settled yet because many stars of the game are also well positioned like Kara Scott, who holds the third biggest stack, Layne Flack, Mike Matusow, Brandon Cantu, John Juanda, Gavin Smith or Richard Toth. Moreover, a large delegation of elite poker are in the field of Day 1 B if we only mention players as Phil Ivey, Scotty Nguyen, Kathy Liebert and Dan Cates.
