Google marks Robert Bunsens 200th birthday
Robert Bunsen was a German scientist you may have heard of before. The scientist who was born in the German town of Göttingen in 1811 invented the Bunsen burner which was named after him. The Bunsen burner was a big improvement in comparison to other laboratory burners that were used at the time it was invented. To date, the Bunsen burner is probably one of the most used laboratory equipments all over the world as it manages to produce a single gas flame that can be used for all kinds of laboratory work like for example to heat up substances rather quickly.
Google celebrates Robert Bunsens 200th birthday with a cleverly designed Doodle. Doodles are the small graphics that you can find on the Google home page. The graphic is usually a standard one that was designed by Ruth Kedar but it changes from time to time depending on important events or holiday celebrations. The Robert Bunsen Doodle features the Bunsen burner, a filter pump and other little bits and bobs you can find in a laboratory.
