World Poker Tour Vienna: Another Russian feat
Russian players have more and more success in major poker tournaments. After the stunning triumph of Natalia Nikitina at the World Poker Tour National Series (WPT) in Paris and the victory of Vladimir Geshkenbein at the European Poker Tour Snowfest that has just ended, another Russian won the super trophy of the WPT Vienna. Indeed, Dmitry Grimov, who first made talk about him by winning the title of the Russian Poker Series of Kiev and his coronation at the Venetian Las Vegas Deepstack Extravaganza in July 2010 was crowned champion of the WPT Vienna. After having played poker against 554 opponents, a field which had among its members the best in the poker world, this young player managed to win and finished at the first spot of the tournament.
At the beginning of the final table, Dmitry Gromov, who was chip leader with a well defined advantage in number of token didn't had difficulty to win. After a fairly hectic duel against Maxim Kolosov, the Russian won the top spot at the poker room of Casino Montesino. For this victory, he obtained a nice gain of 447,840 while the runner up took home 241,180. The third place was won by Simon Ravnsbaeki. And the other finalists, including Mario Adinolfi, Valentin Stroiescu, Maximillian Noll, Alessio Isaia and Markus Jenisch finished respectively 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. The next meeting of the WPT circuit will be held in Bratislava, Slovakia on March 30 to April 3rd and the poker room of Goden Vegas Casino will host the competition and the main event of 2,500.
