EPT Snowfest: Russian victory signed by Vladimir Geshkenbein
The audience of the poker room of the Alpine Palace Card Casino assisted a unique final table last Friday. Indeed, having started on March 19, the European Poker Tour Snowfest (EPT) indeed ended by crowning the Russian Vladimir Geshkenbein as champion. Note that the main event of 3,750 gathered at this year's edition some 482 participants, generating a prize pool of 1,636,390. After the removal of the majority of these competitors, the final table started on Friday. Having acquired the place of chip leader on Day 4, the Italian Giacomo Maisto failed to keep that advantage until the end of the game but settled for the 4th place pocketing a bonus of 100,000. The Belgian Philip Meulyzer, the Irishman Denis Murthy, the Dane Morten Mortensen respectively finished 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th.
Belgians players also shined perfectly at this event because two of them managed to climb onto the podium with the player of team 770 Koen Visscher who pocketed for his third place the sum of 147,000 and the runner-up Kevin Vandermissen who cashed 260,000. Russia's Vladimir Geshbenkein is the great champion of the event. As reminder, it's not his first victory because he was already the winner of the High Riller tournament of the Asian Pacific Poker Tour Macau in 2009, during which he played poker and shined face to the famous world champion Johnny Chan. At 22 years old, he just recorded his first major awards, a first place finish that earned him a handsome gain of 390,000 and access to the Champion of Champions tournament to be held during the Grand Final in Madrid in May 2011. Until that great event, the EPT gives us an appointment at Spielbank Casino Berlin on April 5 to 10, 2011.
