La table finale de l’Eureka Poker Tour s’est tenue comme prévu dimanche avec les huit rescapés des précédentes journées : Liran Machluf, Stefan Ivanov, Tane Tanevski, Georgios Phiniotis, Alexander Moiseev, Papantoniou Stylianos, Ivo Donev et Michal Vojtisek. La table finale avait garanti un gain minimum de 9.200€. Cette somme est revenue au joueur local Ivo Donev qui a été éliminé par Tane Tanevski à la 8e place de ce tournoi de poker. Les deux derniers Chypriotes du tournoi ont été éliminés juste après. Georgios Phiniotis et Papantoniou Stylianos ont empoché respectivement 12.160€ et 16.180€. L’élimination a continué avec celle de Stefan Ivanov qui a été récompensé de 22.750€ pour sa 5e place. Ayant échoué à une place du podium, Michal Vojtisek s’est consolé avec 29.800€.

The third step of the Eureka Poker Tour started with the participation of 185 players, at the Day 1A of the Main Event. The ANZPT Queenstown, which will be held from July 30th to August 4th, closes the season 5. The poker room of the Skycity of Queenstown will be the host of this event, which groups six major tournaments, in addition to the satellite tournaments. The ANZPT Queenstown will propose a Main Event and 5 Side Events, with a buy-in going from $550 to $3,000. The Main Event will last over four days, with three departure days and by paying a buy-in of $3,000, the players will be able to participate in this event with a departure stack of 20,000 chips, on levels of 60 minutes.

Italy is one of the first European countries which have legalized the market of online poker on its territory. This legalization of poker on internet allowed local operators to organize large-scale events on the Italian ground. Since last weekend, the poker room of the Casinò Municipale of Sanremo received the Mini IPT, a circuit which precedes the Italian Poker Tour. The latter will take place from July 25th to 29th of this year, with a Main Event accessible for an entry fee of €2,200. The 44th edition of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), which ended last week with the Main Event, brought great changes in the ranking of the week, in the Global Poker Index (GPI). Intractable since a few weeks, Jason Mercier keeps the head of the ranking, in front of Philipp Gruissem; but the distance between the two leading players has tightened. Penultimate step of the season 2012-2013, the Barrière Poker Tour Enghien took place during last weekend, at Casino Barrière of Enghien-les-Bains. 198 players were present for the Main Event at €1,500, which ended with the victory of Jacques Guenni. A new international circuit, intended for enthusiasts of high roller, has just appeared. It is about the World Poker Tour Alpha 8 (WPT), a $100,000 buy-in super high roller, with re-entry. The first edition of the Alpha 8 will be held in August 26th of this year and will be called the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open-WPT Alpha 8 Florida. Thus, this poker tournament is organized within the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. It will take place in the casino with the same name’s poker room, in Hollywood, in Florida. In 2012, the step in Ile de France region of the Barrière Poker Tour gathered more than 200 participants, who consisted of professional and beginners of poker. The main event was won by David Jaoui who managed to play poker well, in front of Willy Korchia and Laurent Polito who completed the podium.

The DeepStacks Poker Tour has just released its schedule 2013, with four steps including one in Panama. After a step in San Remo during the last month, the Texapoker Series will have a stop on the French Riviera, in the poker room of Casino Barrière Cannes Croisette. From July 26th to 28th, the Croisette will offer a 100% poker weekend to all amateurs of poker of France. This poker event is an opportunity to discover the sumptuous town of Cannes and the summer atmosphere on the French Riviera. Like in each step of the Texapoker Series, the Cannes stage will have a Main Event and Side Events. Limited to 200 players, the Main Event will be accessible for a buy-in of €500 and each player will receive 100,000 starting chips. This event relies upon a deepstack structure, with100/200 blinds on level of 30 minutes during the Day 1, of 40 minutes during the Day 2 and of 50 minutes during the Day 3.

Online gambling activity in France, particularly online poker, is currently crossing a difficult period since a few times, according to the quarterly report of the French Regulation authority of online games (ARJEL). Compared with the same period of the year 2012, the activity on legal online poker rooms in France knew a significant fall, of the order of 16% on the bets in cash game, 1% on entry fees and 9 % on the Gross Gaming Revenue of operators. The British Matthew Ashton won the title of the $ 50,000 Poker Players’ Championship tournament. Dan Smith wins a place and ranks in the 18th place, occupied a week before by Daniel Shak.

After the Day 4, which gathered the 26 survivors of the Poker Player’s Championship, eight players survived till the final table. Nine players were eliminated without being awarded in the poker room of Rio, given the fact that the event guaranteed 16 paid places, for a minimum gain of $ 55,947. This sum went to Joe Cassidy and Gary Benson, following to their elimination in the 15th and 16th place. John Juanda, Mike Leah, Max Pescatori, Joe Hachem, Greg Mueller, David Bach, Justin Smith, Stephen Chidwick and Erick Lindgren left the poker tournament with empty pockets. For the first time within two seasons, the circuit of live poker ACFPoker Tour crossed the Atlantic on the sidelines of the season 2, to go in Las Vegas. After a step in Annecy in last May, the Hotel & Casino Aria of Las Vegas hosted this stage of the ACFPoker Tour on the American continent. The ACFPoker Tour Las Vegas expects to be a promising step, because it was organized in parallel with the World Series of Poker 2013 in the global capital of gambling; 214 players registered for the $ 1,080 Main Event which generates a prizepool of more than $ 200,000 shared between the 27 paid places.

During the next edition of the Battle of Malta, from next September 26th to 29th, the Trophies « Esprit du Poker 2013 » will be awarded to the players who marked the season 2012-2013, on the live poker circuit. The season takes in account the tournaments which were held between the World Series of Poker 2012 and the European Poker Tour Grand Final 2013. These distinctions reward more precisely players who, of course, won the event, but especially those who brought an atmosphere on tables and in the poker room, where they were, while keeping ethics of poker. For that, the Esprit du Poker was shared into three categories which will reward the mythical players, the players who restored taste in poker and those who will be the poker players of tomorrow, through « Le Trophée des Légendes », « Le Trophée du Joueur Inspirant » and « Le Trophée du Meilleur Espoir ».

Last night, a bracelet of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) was awarded to a woman, the first in this 44th edition of the worldwide series. The victory of a woman outside the Ladies Event is a particular occasion, during this poker tournament and deserves to be specified. In fact, Dana Castaneda won the $ 1,000 No Limit Hold'em, which gathered an impressive field of 2,883 participants. Ending in the 94th place of the Ladies Event, Dana Castaneda was an unknown of live circuit afterward and this first place at the Event #54 is certainly marking a beautiful start for her career. At the start of the Day 3 who gathered 14 players, there were still two players left for the title, but Molissa Farber, the other feminine representative of the event, was eliminated at the 11th place.

Weeks pass but are not always the same, at the level of the classification of the best players of poker of the moment. Since a few weeks, Jason Mercier remained at the top of the classification of the Global Poker Index, which gathers the 300 best poker players in the world. The kickoff of the Poker Players Championship tournament of $ 50,000 buy-in of the World Series Of Poker 2013 (WSOP) was held on last Sunday. Organized in memory of David Reese, a great star of poker at the global level, the event gathered 120 participants and is currently at its third day. It outdistances Poker à Lille, with about 900 points. The two associations have each won two points. Then, Tregor Poker Club is in the third position after having lost a place. Haillan Poker Tour, Poker On Mars, Auxerre Poker Club, Dijon Poker, Orléans Poker Club, NH Poker Team and Limoges Poker Club occupy respectively the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th position of the classification.

One more time, French women players signed a very good performance at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). In fact, Julie Monsacré has just won the 3rd place of the $ 10,000 Ladies Championship tournament. Up to now, it is the best French performance in this 2013’s edition of the WSOP. The young woman player, who nearly reiterated the achievement of Vanessa Hellebuyck three years before, has thus pocketed the biggest gain of her career, an amount of $ 67,331. Note that this event gathered 954 women players in the Amazon’s poker room of Rio casino. Other French women took part, among whom Claire Renault who finished 12th, Lara Boutros 18th and Hermance Blum 102nd. On the other side, the victory came back to Kristen Bicknell who received a prize of $ 173,922. The Australian Leanne Haas, as for her, occupied the second place.

Currently, the One Drop High Rollers is undoubtedly the most followed event in Las Vegas, within the framework of the 44th edition of the World Series of Poker (WSOP). 166 players took on Wednesday, the departure of this event at $ 111,111 of buy-in, but after two days of competition, the field was reduced to 64 players, among whom only 24 will be able to share the prizepool of almost $ 18 million. Already chipleader at the end of the Day 1, Brandon Steven consolidates his domination by taking possession of the head of the classification, in terms of chipcount, at the end of the Day 2. Brandon Steven counts 2,135,000 chips at the end of the day, but other players such as Ben Lamb, Shaun Deeb, Nick Schulman, Andrew Robl, Steve Gross and the champion of the Big One for One Drop 2012, Antonio Esfandiari, are also at more than one million chips.

The month of August will mark the resumption of the season of the European Poker Tour (EPT), after a break of three months. For this new season, the eight steps of the previous were taken back. The EPT will start at the end of August in Barcelona, the inaugural stage of the Season 10 which will end with the EPT Grande Finale of Monte-Carlo, in April 2014. For this new season, the organizers brought some changes compared with the Season 9, especially in the program of the EPT London, EPT San Remo and EPT Berlin. From August 28 to September 7, the European Poker Tour will have, as planned, a stop in Spain with the EPT Barcelona, which will be followed by the EPT London, from October 2 to 12. The year 2013 will be closed by a stage in the Czech capital, from December 8 au 18.
