WSOP: Beginning of nomination for the Hall of Fame 2013
Each year and this since1979, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) are adding one or two new members to its Poker Hall of Fame. This year, the ceremony of enthronement will take place in November, during the Main Events final table of the 44th edition of the WSOP poker tournament. The public had been asked to send for review, a nominative list of potential players until next August 15th. The day after, a jury composed of a group of journalists and 19 members of the Hall of Fame will examine the case of the eligible candidates. The two players who will receive the maximum of votes will join the 40 Hall of Famer. The public has to refer to some criteria during the naming: being aged of more than 40 years, have played in parties with high stakes, have won the respect of his counterparts and being always competitive, but also have withstood time. The Hall of Fame is also accessible to non-players, who have participated closely to the development and to the success of poker.
Among the very select members of the Poker Hall of Fame, we find again Doyle Brunson, Bill Boyd, Benny Binion, Johnny Moss, Stu The Kid Ungar, Brian Sailor Roberts, Thomas Austin Amarillo Slim Preston, David Chip Reese, Bobby Baldwin, Walter Clyde Puggy Pearson, Johnny Chan or Phil Hellmuth. In 2012, Eric Drache joined the Hall of Fame WSOP, after he was nominated alongside Scotty Nguyen, John Juanda, Chris Bjorin, Tom McEvoy, Jennifer Harman, Thor Hansen and George Hardie.
