In 2014, the France Poker Series (FPS) attracted a gigantic field of 1,095 participants. This year, the first starting day of the France Poker Series Season IV has brought together 467 poker players. And after ten 45-minute levels of play, only 213 would proudly make their own way to Day 2 flight. With a pretty modest stack of 321,600 chips, Jonathan Koskas enters the next battle with confidence. In fact, 888 players took part in this poker tournament on Day 1B, rising the total field to a record-breaking 1,355. Day 1B was played with the same structure as the previous day. Coming out lucky on the second starting day are 480 players with Florian Mann (175,000 chips) atop the chip count. Clément Jeunon is ranked second with 168,000 chips, followed by Rasmus Vogt (142,000), Karim Zeddag (133.000), Thomas Denis (125,000) Lieb Bechrir (115,000), Clément Maestracci (111,000), Cyril Ben Soussan (110,000) , Mecit Turan (108,000) and Arnaud Mattern (104,000).

Three days after the 2015 Aussie Millions Poker Championship Main Event kick-off at Crown Poker Room in Melbourne, the field of 127 poker players who part took in the battle is now trimmed to 30. Leading the pack for Day 4 flight is Raiden Kan; he possesses 1,775,000 in chips. He is ahead of Andrew Chen (1,165,000 chips), Brian Rast (1,156,000) and Gerald Karlic (1,085,000), the three other players who make it through the next phase with over 1 million chips. Richard Lyndaker (943,000), Lennart Uphoff (796,000), Joel Douaglin (765,000), Terence Clee (750,000), Calvin Ho (720,000) and James Rann (684,000) round out the chip count’s Top 10.

127 players would make it through the next phase of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship Main Event 2015. These Day 2 survivors will battle it out to reach, at least, the 72 ITM places on Day 3, or trying to remain in the race for the $ 1.6 million first-place prize. Jan Suchanek bags the largest stack up at the end of the day. He now possesses 483,900 chips. Keanu Simpson is right behind with 403,000 chips, followed by Michael Pedley (376,700), James Rann (360,000), Andrew Chen (344,000), Alex Antonios (329,000), Grant Levy (324,000), Michael Addamo (321,000), Don Mishra (320,000) and reigning champ Ami Barer (10th in chip count: 318,600). The latter is among the men to watch in this battle.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has just made a significant change regarding the structure of its Main Event. At first glance, it is a positive news for players. Actually, the organizers have decided to increase the ITM places to 1,000. Speaking of the November Nine, qualified players are guaranteed to leave with a minimum gain of $ 1 million. Thus, the $ 10 million first-place prize has been erased from the schedule for a better distribution of gains, and this, for the entire delight of November Nine finalists. This restructuring move comes after high-profile poker players Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth shed some critism at the WSOP Main Event’s structure. Expectedly, it would lure many poker enthusiasts into attractions from July 5th, the kick-off date of the Main Event at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Of course, this is the very first move in the industry when a poker tournament guarantees 1,000 In The Money places.

After Paris, GPI’s France Poker Awards chooses to make an eventful stop in Deauville this year. Pending the official announcement, spreading rumours include Erwann Pecheux and Florence Allera among the potential nominees for the Player of the Year and the Female Player of the Year’s categories respectively. And this is evidenced by their noticeably high rakings on the Global Poker Index Player of the Year race. It is also worth noting that the nominees for the Jury Prize remain veiled. This year, the panel of jury include GPI’s founder Alexandre Dreyfus, Bruno Fitoussi, Laurent Dumont, Matthew Sustrac and Bruno Benveniste.

The $ 10,600 buy-in Main Event of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship 2015 actually records a total field of 642 players with its three starting days. Run at the Crown Poker Room in Melbourne, Day 1A seduces 183, Day 1B 173 while Day 1C has 365 entries. In comparison to last year’s 668-player field, the attendance rate has slightly dropped. Include the likes of Phil Ivey, Dan Smith, Ole Schemion, Igor Kurganov, Scott Seiver, Justin Bonomo, Sam Trickett, Jackie Glazier, Tobias Reinkemeier, Luke Brabin, Doug Polk, Pete Chen, Bryn Kenney and Tyron Krost. However, many of them were unlucky enough to make it through Day 2. Those hitting the rail on Day 1C include Igor Kurganov, Scott Seiver, Bryn Kenney, Tyron Krost and Dough “WCGRider” Polk.

Deauville is famous for its paradisiacal beaches and its idyllic scenery, with a beautiful panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean. The seaside city remains one of the best destinations to spend one’s summer holiday. Alongside its tourist vocations, Deauville is also known for its casino, the mythical Casino Barrière; recall that in recent years, this gambling establishment has played host to the annual European Poker Tour festival. This year, the EPT Deauville kicks off this Tuesday, January 27th, and will run until February 7th. It actually features 45 events. This EPT stop at Deauville will be a great opportunity for poker enthusiasts across France to participate in the Grand Final of the France Poker Series Season IV. In fact, the FPS will open the festivity with a €1,100 buy-in poker tournament. As a reminder, last year, Dutchman Niels Van Leeuwen topped a gigantic field of 1,095 players to win the event for € 175,000 of prize.

The penultimate day of the 2015 Aussie Millions $ 100,000 Challenge was run on Monday at the Crown Poker Room in Melbourne. Play resumes today with 8 players remain in contention for the title. While chip leader Ole Schemion can boasts himself with 1,888,000 chips on his hands, his nearest rival, Jason Mo, is heading to the final with a pretty modest stack of 1,150,000 chips. After his failure to get the AB2291 bill regarding online poker regulation in California passed in 2014, California State Assemblyman Reggie Jones-Sawyer went ahead and introduced a freshly-improved draft law on Friday. Following a related initiative undertaken by Assemblyman Mike Gatto (AB 9) late last year, Sir Jones-Sawyer remains optimistic in the regulation and taxation of online poker in California by putting the AB 167 bill on the table of discussion. Entitled "The Internet Poker Consumer protection Act of 2015”, this new bill includes some changes, especially regarding the “Bad Actor” clause on which the AB2291bill was severely criticized. As mentioned above, the AB 167 includes no “Bad Actor” clause but would focus on individuals rather than corporate entities. Expectedly, those who have defied a legislative investigative body in the United States would be banned from the California online gaming license-race.

Not surprisingly, the driver’s seat goes to Ramin Hajiyev. He has performed well at the PCA 2015. He has even final-tabled two different events while reaching ITM places in the LAPT Bahamas Main Event and the $ 25,000 buy-in High Roller as well. In all, Ramin Hajiyev reached four In The Money places at the 2015 PCA. Jonathan Karamalikis finds himself in second position of the POY race. He has also earned four cashes at the PCA. As mentioned on the freshly published schedule, the LAPT Season 8 includes six enticing stops, including the LAPT Grand Final in Brazil. Note that the season has already started in early January with the freshly-completed LAPT Bahamas Main Event held in the poker room of Atlantis Resort, a poker festivity ran alongside the 12th annual PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA). After six days of battle, only 15 survivors (of the 153-player field on Day2) will return to the Crown Poker Room for the Opening Event’s Day 3. The GPI’s Top 10 has encountered change, but Germany’s Ole Schemion remains atop the list for a fourth straight week. The Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure 2015 Main Event (PCA) has just ended with USA’s Kevin Schulz winning the top prize. In 2014, it took nearly 16 hours for the poker event to bring about a winner, Dominik Panka. This time, only six hours were enough for the lucky one to emerge from the final table of six. Interestingly, Kevin Schulz entered the ultimate battle second in chip count. He gradually amassed some chips and eventually sent chip leader Chance Kornuth to the rail. Following his 4th place at the WSOP 2012, this first-place finish remains the first big achievement Kevin Schulz has ever reached. Indeed, Schulz has been awarded the biggest seven-score win of his career, $ 1,491,580. May we remind you that he cashed $ 267,792 of prize for his 4th-place finish at the WSOP 2012.

New Jersey is one of the three States with legalized online poker market in the United States. In the last three months, internet poker revenues left some rooms for doubt regarding the profitability that the market could generate. Surprisingly, December 2014 has been a great month clothing New Jersey’s ipoker industry with great hope. Actually, online poker revenues reported in December have slightly increased compared to the previous month. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) announced on Wednesday that the revenues generated by legit ipoker operators within the State exceeded the $ 2 million mark following three consecutive declining months. December now totals $ 2.06 million in revenues. On year on year basis, these figures fell short of those of December 2013. In fact, the NJDGE reported that December 2013 recorded $ 2.9 million in revenues.

The Day 5 has just resumed with the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure 2015 Main Event (PCA) playing its 29-player field down to 6. Indeed, after about 12 hours of play, only 6 players would make it through the ultimate day. USA’s Chance Kornuth will enter the final battle as chipleader. With a stunning stack of 7,860,000 chips, the Florida native of 26 is well-positioned to grab the title. It is quite expectable given his impressive achievements over the past six years. As a reminder, he won both the WSOP 2010 and the Bellagio Cup 2014. For this to happen, Chance Kornuth will have to knock his compatriot Kevin Schulz and Rami Boukai out. Note that Schulz is heading to the final with 6,155,000 chips whereas Boukai, with one golden “World Series Of Poker” bracelet on hands, remains a formidable poker player to watch in this ultimate battle. He is the short-stack (780,000 chips) of the day though. Chips at stake now total 24,480,000.

The Season 2015 of live poker festival in the Asia-Pacific region begin this month with the Aussie Millions Poker Championship. Indeed, Ronaldo has managed to make it through Day 4; however, he failed to qualify for the penultimate day. He finished 26th place for $ 42,180 of prize. USA’s Chance Kornuth is also among those possessing over 2 million chips. He will enter the Day 5 battle with 2,026,000 chips while his nearest rival, Sweden’s Andreas Samuelsson, has over 1.6 million chips.

While we are still far from seeing the game of “poker” as one of the competitive disciplines in the Olympic Games, the “sportify” project initiated by Global Poker Index (GPI) is marching straight forward as evidenced by the upcoming Global Poker Masters. From March 21 to 22, 2015, the best poker players in the world will gather in Malta for a team battle. Implicitly inspired from the Ryder Cup (golf) and the Davis Cup (tennis), the GPI is making a decisive first attempt by launching the Global Poker Masters, a poker-based competition which will be run alongside the 2015 European Poker Tour Malta. Of course, the event promises to be exceptional with the presence of notable names in live poker tournaments, especially those with high ranking on Global Poker Index. Eight countries will be represented in this competition. Each country has one team consisting of 5 players. For the moment, only four members of each team are known. Evidence is that each of the 8 competing countries will unveil their respective Wild Card later.

Of the 175 players who battled it out on Day 3 flight of the $ 10,000 buy-in PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event, only 57 players now remain in the race. Almost two thirds of the field has left the poker room of Bahamas’ Atlantis Resort... empty-handed. Lucky enough, some high profile players have managed to reach the 119 “In The Money” places. This panel includes Daniel Negreanu, Shawn Buchanan Andre Akkari, George Lind, Max Silver, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Liv Boeree. Arne Kern is the bubble boy of the event. Many other notables including Connor Drinan and Chance Kornuth did not make the money.

According to reliable sources, Washington would be the next US State to legalize online poker. This news has come as a surprise since Washington State has always described (explicitly) such online gambling as a felony. With a new bill on the table of discussion, the 2006 law that prohibits e-poker gambling is sure to die. Actually, lawmakers in Washington have a different view on this matter since other States, including New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware; have successfully made a great leap into regulating online poker market. Last week, the bill named “HB 1114” was pre-filed for introduction by Representative “Sherry Appleton”. It would amend the 2006 law on e-gambling. Note that this new bill owes its birth to the hard work undertaken by “Curtis Woodard” and the “Washington Internet Poker Initiative”.

After Barcelona and Prague, the European Poker Tour (EPT) has just been serving poker fans with a new stop in the Bahamas, the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure (PCA). Atlantis Resort plays host to the festivity. Actually, 816 players have registered themselves in the Main Event, but only 175 survive when Day 2 resumed. In fact, 507 participants joined back the poker room of Atlantis Resort; after five 90-minute levels of play, the field trimmed to 175. Walter Fisher is heading to Day 3 as chipleader. He has an impressive stack of 497,000 chips. Hugh Drummond and Juan Martin Pastor are also well placed with 456,800 and 446,000 chips respectively. Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Daniel Negreanu, Liv Boeree and Brazilian football legend “Ronaldo” are among the 175-player field heading to the next phase of this PCA Main Event.
