Potential nominees to be unveiled by February 1st - GPI-American Poker Awards
According to a statement published by Global Poker Index (GPI), the first annual American Poker Awards is scheduled on February 27 in Los Angeles, California. The GPI founder Alex Dreyfus said that this initiative is a logical step forward to the European Poker Awards. The success of the latter has led the GPI to introduce the concept in North America where the company is actively working on rewarding North Americas best players, leaders in the industry, poker events, best e-poker initiatives and innovations... that have promoted the game of poker in the continent. Like the European Poker Awards, the GPI American Poker Awards feature numbers of categories including the GPI Player of the Year, the GPI Female Player of the Year, the Breakout Player of the Year, the Tournament Performance of the Year, the Event of the Year (Buy-in over $ 2,000), the Event of the Year (poker events with buy-in under $2,000), the Initiative of the Year, the Charitable Initiative of the Year, the Industry Person of the Year, the Media Person of the Year, the Poker Media Content of the Year and the Poker's Best Ambassador. Votes on each of these categories are expected to be placed by February 1st, 2015.
Pending the announcement of the official candidates on each of these categories, we have already had an overview of the potential nominees for the Event of the Year (buy-in over $ 2,000).
