European Poker Awards: Ole Schemion, the great winner of the year
By the occasion of the European Poker Tour which is currently held at the Casino Barrière of Deauville, Global Poker Index has taken advantage to award the GPI European Poker Awards. The ceremony took place in Ambassadors Hall of the establishment. This thirteenth edition of the GPI European Poker Awards was simply superb with the presence of all icons of European poker and fanatics who came in large number to revive the 2013 season and its most beautiful moments, with the reward of price for the best poker player in Europe. Ten trophies were distributed throughout the evening, under the animation of the pretty Gaëlle Garcia-Diaz.

EPT Deauville: 16 survivors for the Day 5
The Day 4 of the Main Event of the European Poker Tour of Deauville hosted in the evening of Thursday the 41survivors of the previous day. After 5 levels of 90 minutes, the field was reduced to 16 players. This Friday, these semifinalists will come back in the poker room of the Casino Barrière of Deauville, to determine the 8 seats of the final table of Saturday. At the beginning of the day, Ekrem Sanioglu and Eugene Katchalov occupied a comfortable place but the situation changed and the chiplead went to Sotirios Koutoupas, for his 2,695,000 chips accumulated at the end of the Day 4. In fact, Ekrem Sanioglu was eliminated in the 28th place for a gain of 15,950, while Eugene Katchalov always remains in the running, but was relegated in the 10th place with a stack of 1,002,000 chips.

Global Poker Index: No change for the leading trio, ElkY wins some places
Like each week, Global Poker Index brings an update in its ranking of the 300 best players of poker in the world. For the GPI classification dating back to January 27th, Ole Schemion, Daniel Negreanu and Marvin Rettenmaier keep the three first places. Philipp Gruissem also keeps his fourth place, while Dan Smith (5th) and Vanessa Selbst (6th) have swapped their places. Ravi Raghavan rises in the 7th place and thus relegates Paul Volpe, Mike McDonald and Bryn Kenney to the three last places of the top 10. In the 11th place, we find Shannon Shorr, Stephen O'Dwyer, Michael Watson, Joni Jouhkimainen, Noah Schwartz, Jonathan Duhamel, Erik Seidel, Roger Hairabedian, Joe Kuether and Jeffrey Rossiter to complete the top 20 of this week.

EPT Deauville: Eugene Katchalov, second in chips at the start of the Day 4
The 137 survivors of the Day 2 of the Main Event of the European Poker Tour were back at the casino Barrière of Deauville. The stake of the day was to qualify for the Day 4, and also to finish in the ITM, reserved for 95 players. The Day 3 was marked by the qualification of 41 players, after 6 levels of 90 minutes. Ekrem Sanioglu was the chipleader of the day, with a stack of 1,300,000 chips, for an average of 496,000 chips. He is followed closely by Eugene Katchalov who has slightly les than 2 million chips. Norbert Szecsi and Sotirios Koutoupas occupy also a more or less comfortable position, with stacks of more than 1 million, 1,184,000 and 1,129,000 chips. The top 10 of the chipcount is completed by Tatu Maenpaa (926,000), Anthony Lerust (837,000), Andrew Sweeney (775,000), Dimitri Holdeew (774,000), Alexander Goulder (696,000) and Konstantin Tolokno (684,000).

WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open: 657 survivors for the Day 2
While most of French players are in Deauville on the occasion of the European Poker Tour, Guillaume Darcourt has preferred to cross the Atlantic sea to participate in the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open. This poker event proves to be a great success, given the number of players who moved at Borgota Hotel & Casino of Atlantic City. Among the players who registered at the Day 1, we could meet Chino Rheem, Mike Sexton, Will Failla, Vanessa Selbst, Kathy Liebert, Matt Salsberg, Andy Frankenberger as well as Greg Merson. The Main Event has registered 1,229 registrations thanks to its re-entry formula. Its the second greatest influx recorded by the circuit, after the 1,313 comers of the WPT Borgata Poker Open 2011.

EPT Deauville: Dario Sammartino, leader of the 144 survivors of the Day 2
The Day 2 of the Main Event of the European Poker Tour of Deauville (EPT) was held on Tuesday, with the 386 survivors of the two departure days. The Italian Dario Sammartino dominated the day, but two other players were also well placed at the start of the Day 3 of this poker event, following the example of Zimnan Ziyard and Eugene Katchalov. After 14 levels, the field was reduced to 144 players for an average stack of 139,000 chips. Dario Sammartino occupied the place of chipleader at the end of the day with a stack of 427,700 chips, but his direct opponents werent pushed aside for all that: Zimnan Ziyard (392,500), Norbert Szecsi (386,900), Jonathan Abdellatif (351,700), Eugene Katchalov (345,700), Loredan Hanganu (329,100), Sotirios Koutoupas (317,100), Kamel Boukhalfa (289,700), Anthony Lerust (288,600) and Patrick Bruel (277,400). Eugene Katchalov is in good position to aim for a « triple crown ». He has eliminated the French Bruno Lopes in the wake.

Netherlands: Poker is not gambling!
A new echo on gambling comes back in the Netherlands, after the closure of the Café « of Viersprong » of Bussum in 2007. Within four years, the Dutch justice has made public two verdicts on poker as being a game of skill but not of chance. That means that poker is not subject to laws on gambling. Seven years were necessary for Amsterdam Court to study the charges retained against Richard Blaas and Rene Kurver, who have been accused for having broken the law on gambling. Both men have proposed regularly rebuy poker tournaments at 10 at the Café « of Viersprong ». Following the opening of the lawsuit, the police closed the establishment in 2007.

EPT Deauville: Ayman Zbib, chipleader at the beginning of the Day 2 of the Main Event
After the France Poker Series (FPS), the poker festival in Deauville continues with the European Poker Tour (EPT). Renowned players have taken part in this main tournament with a buy-in of 800, following the example of the winner of the PCA, Dominik Panka, the winner of the WSOPE 2013 David Vamplew, Eugene Katchalov, Bertrand « ElkY » Grospellier, Adrian Mateos Diaz, Guillaume Diaz, Dominik Nitsche, Jake Cody, Patrick Bruel, Gaëlle Baumann as well as Bruno Lopez alias « Kool Shen ». Davidi Kitai, holder of titles EPT, WPT and WSOP, was also present in this Deauville poker appointment. 667 players registered at the Main Event at the end of the two departure days. On Sunday, the Day 1A was marked by the participation of 234 players, among whom 137 survived at the end of the day. The English Christopher Day was the chipleader of the Day 1A with 154,100 chips. He precedes Anton Wigg and Barny Boatman, the two other players having more than 100,000 chips at the end of this day. But other players such as Quentin Lecomte, Eric Sfez, Eugene Katchalov, Romain « Neuville25 » Baert, Dominik Nitsche or Brian Benhamou, have also managed to qualify for the Day 2.

FPS Deauville: Niels Van Leeuwen, champion of the Season III
The grand final of the poker tournament France Poker Series of Deauville ended on Sunday with the victory of Niels Van Leeuwen. It was necessary to wait six hours to have a winner between the 8 last players, for a gain included between 21,000 and 175,000. At the beginning of the final table, Jean-Paul Vasseur was the well placed to win the title of this third season of the FPS, with a stack of 5,960,000 chips, while his direct opponent, Christophe Leroux, counted 4,055,000 chips. The six other seats of the final table were occupied by Niels Van Leeuwen with 3,790,000 chips, Fahd Kaabat (3,415,000), Corentin Ropert (3,015,000), Erwann Pécheux (2,585,000), Yehoram Houri ((2,255,000) and Mathieu Mariani (2,170,000).

European Deepstack Poker Championship: The program of the season VII revealed
With a wealth of experience thanks to its six years of existence in the industry of live poker in Ireland, the European Deepstack Poker Championship (EDPC) is going to come back for its seventh season with new changes. Like during its previous season, the 7th edition of the EDPC will take place again at Regency Hotel of Dublin, from February 15th to 23rd, and players will have at their disposal two different events: the Amateur Championship of Poker (ACOP) and the European Deepstack Poker Championship. The improvement of this poker tournament was brought on the structure of its key event, the Main Event with a buy-in of 550. In fact, participants will start with a stack of 100,000 chips on a blind which increases each 45 minutes for the three first days, and 90 minutes for the final table.

Internet provider: Obligation to block illegal gambling websites, opinions are divided!
Last week, the representatives of main regulators of online gambling in Europe (Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Portugal and United Kingdom) met in Rome in order to discuss about the evolution of regulated markets of online gambling, including mainly online poker and sports betting. The implementation of new measures against illegal operators was tackled. Since many years, regulators try to fight against illegal offer, and one of the solutions undertaken counts on the intervention of Internet Provider. In fact, regulators impose to provider to block the content of websites of poker and online gambling judged illegal, without having recourse to justice. But providers dont agree with this opinion.

FPS Deauville: 137 survivors out of the 322 registered at the Day 1A
The Casino Barrière of Deauville has been hosting since yesterday the poker tournament highly expected by French players, the France Poker Series. Apart from the Main Event with a guaranteed prizepool of 500,000, fanatics and regulars of the tournament will also have a glance on the contest for the « Best FPS Player Season 3 ». As a reminder, Miroslac Alilovic, David Balazuc and Jean-Baptiste Loll will compete for the title, with a TV Stars contract amounted at 25,000 to top it all off. 322 players registered in the Day 1A of the Main Event, but 137 among them have managed to be qualified for the Day 2. During the previous season, the FPS Deauville was won by the Canadian Patrick Braga. This year, Raffaele Sorrentino occupies the temporary first place of this poker event at the end of the departure day, but other notable payers such as Alexandra Petitjean (86,500), Michael Gathy (52,800), Julien Brecard (47,700), Bertrand ElkY Grospellier (37,000) as well as Ludovic Sultan (17,000) are always in the running for the title.

Royal Poker Challenge: A tournament at $50 million casts doubt!
High stakes poker tournaments interest amazingly professional players, rich businessmen and influential personalities. Last week, David Chen announced the holding of a high stake tournament having an international scale, which guaranteed a prize of $ 50 million. Borgata Winter Poker Open: Victory of Michael Fiorito during the Event #11
In the framework of the Borgata Winter Poker Open, two events ended on Tuesday, under the eyes of fanatics of poker. The Event #8 « 400 $ Deeper Stack NLHE re-entry » and the Event #11 « 450 $ PLO re-entry » were respectively marked by the registration of 1,392 and 86 players. After a few hours of relentless competition, Nicholas "Frenzuh" Immekus and Michael Fiorito stood out in the day of Tuesday, at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa of Atlantic City, in the United States, during these two poker tournaments. Nicholas Immekus got rid of a hardly played final table, after 18 hours of game. He pocketed $99,144 for his victory at the « $250,000 Guaranteed DeepStack NLHE Re-Entry » after a heads-up with Allyn Marshall ($51,318). David Heck left the table with a gain of $36,389, after the elimination of Andrew Carnevale (4th / $30,556), David Gerard (5th / $25,425), Eric Rappaport (6th / $20,530), Jason Tulloss (7th / $15,895), James Governa (8th / $11,665) and David Gerassi (9th / $8,399).

Online poker: Meeting of European regulators in Rome
Last week, European regulators of gambling and online poker met again in Italy. In January 16th and 17th, Rome hosted a meeting between the different regulators of online gambling in Europe, namely France represented by the French Regulation Authority of online gambling (ARJEL), Spain, Germany, Portugal, United Kingdom and Italy as hosting country, under the initiative of the Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (AMMS). While main actors of online gambling, and more precisely those of poker, expected a richer agenda which implies the sharing of liquidities of European markets, the discussion focused especially on the improvement of the sharing of information. According to a press release published by the AMMS, the meeting was rather focused on the implementation of a mean to facilitate the exchange of courtesies between the regulators, in the framework of the Expert Group on Gambling Services (EGGS) of the European Commission.

DeepStack Open Paris: Jérémy Nock takes the lead of the final table
The grand final of the poker tournament DeepStack Open, which has taken place at the Cercle Cadet in Paris, since last week, has reached its final table. On the 701 registered for the Day 1, only 10 players have survived till the final table which guarantees a minimum gain of 7,500. Borgata Winter Poker Open: Cancellation of the Event #1 because of a cheating
Its a first one in the field of live poker tournament, an event has been cancelled and the prizepool has been frozen. The reason of such extraordinary decision is the report of a cheating during the inaugural event of the Borgata Winter Poker Open. The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa of Atlantic City, in the United States, received from Tuesday January 14th of this year a new edition of its poker tournament Borgata Winter Poker Open, within the framework of the reception of the World Poker Tour. The day was marked by the holding of the Event #1, a re-entry tournament with a buy-in of $560, which has registered 4,814 registrations. This impressive field has generated a prizepool of $2,325, 835. But unfortunately, the winner will be never known because the organizers have decided to suspend the event because of the introduction of counterfeit chips inside the tournament.

Ivey League: Launching planned at the end of January
Online poker is an industry in full rebirth in the United States and in full growth in the rest of the world. In front of the interest of keen players on the game, a website for learning online poker could be launched at the end of January. In fact, the pro player Phil Ivey intends to launch its new website, Ivey League, to teach players online poker and the best mean to practice it in the right way. Global Poker Index: The nominees for the European Poker Awards VII
By the occasion of the seventh edition of the European Poker Tour of Deauville, which will take place from January 22nd at the Casino Barrière of Deauville, the Global Poker Index has decided to organize the thirteenth edition of the GPI European Poker Awards. This celebration which is similar to the Golden Globes, appointment of the best of American cinema and series, will gather the best of poker with beautiful trophies to win. This poker event will be held on Wednesday, January 29th in the Room of Ambassadors, with nine prizes awarded, including the « Live European Player of the Year » which will be certainly won by Ole Schemion, first European player of the ranking GPI 2013.

World Poker Tour: The second half of the season XII revealed
The World Poker Tour is one of the most select poker tournaments on the live circuit. The 12th edition of this circuit is going to come to an end in April, with the World Championship at the Borgata of Atlantic City, in New Jersey. The organizers have revealed the schedule of the second half with 10 events, among which only one in Europe. This unique European step of the WPT XII will take place at the Casino di Venezia of Venice, while the rest will be held in North America. But numerous regional and national WPT events will take place essentially in Europe. This second half of the season will start at the end of January with the Borgata Winter Poker Open. The Borgata casino of Atlantic City will be the host of this poker event from January 26th to 31st of this year.

Online poker: The weak link of online gambling in France according to the ARJEL
The sector of online gambling in France was less dynamic in 2013, has announced the French Regulation Authority of online gambling (AREL) in its last assessment. According to this authority, the result was mixed with a strong raise of bets of sports betting and a drop in the two other sectors, namely horse betting and online poker. And the new development of sports betting couldnt manage to compensate the backward movement of the activity of online poker and horse betting. In 2013, the sector of online gambling knew strong variations from a quarter to another one, by generating 79 million for sports betting, 86 million for poker and 160 million for horserace, or a total of 325 million of tax revenue in 2013, against 327 million in 2012. This decline can be explained by the collapse of bets by 10%, at 8.474 billion. This fall of the total amount of bets have caused a drop of the Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) by 2%, at 686 million, has specified the ARJEL.

Borgata Winter Poker Open: Kick-off of the edition 2014
The poker tournament Borgata Winter Poker Open 2014 has just started this Tuesday, January 14th to end only in January 31st of this year. PCA 2014: Dominik Panka ruling in front of Mike McDonald
While he was close to win the title of the tournament Pokerstars Carribean Adventure (PCA) for the second time, Mike Mc Donald has finally settled with the second place. The person who defeated him during the final heads up final is an online poker player, still unknown by the public, named Dominik Panka. The Polish, at the age of just 22 years old, has proved a great performance during this duel. Its the greatest result of his career and awarded him a colossal bonus of $1.4 million. Nevada: Increase of online poker traffic during the Christmas holidays
The legal market of online poker in the United States was opened since last November 2013. The industry of poker in New Jersey was more promising than that of Nevada and Delaware since its launching. But against all odds, online poker in Nevada has known an increase of its traffic within these 30 last days, a period which coincides with Christmas holidays. In fact, the two online poker rooms of the State of Nevada have just registered a traffic increasing by 20% during this period, while all in all, since the launching of online poker inside the State, the offer was declining in Nevada, compared with the one of New Jersey. This raise of the traffic during the Christmas holidays puts an end to the regress of traffic on online poker rooms during holidays periods.

Dakar Poker Tour 7: Steven Marrucci won the Main Event
Since a few years, Senegal became a favorite destination for Europeans, not only for its beautiful landscapes but also for the holding of the Dakar Poker Tour (DPT). Strong of its six previous seasons, the DPT could always cherish its players, hence its great fame in this part of the west of Africa. Numerous regulars of the circuit and of poker tournaments at Terrou-bi travelled this weekend, in order to participate in this one of the most select events in Africa. But finally, the victory went to Steven Marrucci, after a heads-up with Jean-François Bertrand. After the Deepstack tournament which ended by the victory of Jacob Attal, the players turned towards the Main Event. This poker event raised the keen interest of numerous of regular players, following the example of the winner of the previous edition, Pierre Daw and his father Philippe, runner-up of the DPT 6, Ali Chahrour, Hassan Fares, Imad Derwiche, Bernard Guigon, Sébastien Compte, Christophe Jadoun and Kamel Tafer, among others, among the 87 registered.

RedBet Open: Victory of Andreas Reichel in the Main Event
From January 9th to 12th, the Montesino Casino of Vienna hosted a step of the circuit RedBet Poker Open (RPO). This event gathered several hundreds players of Eastern Europe, in the Austrian capital, for its various poker tournaments. All in all, the RPO proposed seven tournaments, including the Main Event with a buy-in of 165: NLH 6 max, PLO Turbo, Triple Chance, NHL Turbo, Deepstack Turbo and Nations Cup of Poker. During last weekend, 518 players registered for the Main Event, for a stack of 20,000chips, on blinds increasing all 30 minutes for the Day 1, 45 minutes for the Day 2 and 60 minutes for the final table. This field generated a prizepool of 77,000, among which 16,640 for the winner.

PCA 2014 Main Event: The final table is defined!
On Sunday evening, the 20 survivors of the Main Event of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) went back inside the poker room of Atlantis Resort, to battle for the eight seats of the final table. The day was short because it took only a few hours so that the half of the field was out of the game. The final table was defined when Max Silver left the tables in the 9th place. Madis Muur is the chipleader of the final table, with a huge stack of $6,205,000 chips, while his direct pursuer, Mike McDonald, is at 5,605,000 chips. McDonald is one of the players to follow during this final table, which will be held from this Monday from noon. As a reminder, « Timex » has already won a step of the European Poker Tour, that of Dortmund during the Season 4. The final table will be also composed by Pascal Lefrancois (5,595,000), Dominik Panka (3,695,000), Fabian Ortiz (3,040,000), Isaac Baron (2,995,000), Daniel Gamez (1,885,000) and Shyam Srinivasan (1,505,000).

Global Poker Index: Ole Schemion, best player of 2013
Decidedly, 2013 was a consecration of German poker players! After the naming of the German Niklas Heinecker as best player of online poker in 2013 in terms of gains, $6.3 million, another German dominates the Global Poker Index (GPI). Following the last update of the week, Ole Schemion was elected best player of the year by occupying the first place of the « 2013 GPI Player of the Year » and the one of the « GPI 300 ». The German counts 14 final tables, 3 victories and an earning of $1,652,680 in 2013. In the ranking GPI Player of the Year2013, Ole Schemion outstrips Daniel Negreanu of short head who, as a reminder, was elected « Player of the decade ». In the rest of the classification, we find Paul Volpe in the 3rd place, followed by Bryn Kenney, David Peters, Mike Watson, Philipp Gruissem, Steven Silverman, Jonathan Duhamel and Shannon Shorr to conclude the Top 10.

EPT Deauville: 45 events in the program
While the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) is in its mid-term, the organizers of the European Poker Tour (EPT) have already focused on the second step of the circuit. From January 22nd to February 1st, the European Poker Tour will take place in Deauville, in the north west of France, with 45 events in the program. During this festival, the Grande Finale of the 3rd season of the France Poker Series (FPS) will be also held. This event will inaugurate the poker festival of the Basse-Normandie, with its High Roller tournament at 2,500 and its Main Event at 1,000, from January 22nd to 26th. It will be also during this poker tournament, more exactly in January 29th that the 12th edition of the Global Poker Index European Poker Awards will be held.

PCA: Fabian Quoss wins the Super High Roller
Since last weekend, the poker room of Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas is in an excitement with the holding of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure 2014 (PCA), the first step of the season 10 of the European Poker Tour. While the Main Event started yesterday with 295 players registered at the Day 1A, the poker tournament at 100,000 Super High Roller ended on the victory of Fabian Quoss. Decidedly, Germans started very well the year 2014, after their supremacy in 2013, as well in live as in online poker. The Super High Roller of the PCA 2014 gathered 56 participants (46 registrations and 10 re-entries), but at the end of three days, the field was reduced to 8 players.

New Jersey: 150,000 online gambling accounts created, a record traffic for poker
Being one of the three American States which legalized online poker, New Jersey has been registering an important influence since last November, if we consider the figures of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. According to this regulation authority of online gambling inside the State, about 150,000 accounts have been created since the regularization of online gaming. A large number of accounts have been created in online rooms of regulated land based casinos of the State, but the account opening on online poker rooms are not outdone.

For this New Year, the resolution comes from Jason Mercier, when he proposed a bet for a 2014 without alcohol on Twitter. For a minimum stake settled at $100,000, the bet aroused the curiosity of some players and leading figures of poker, even if numerous persons remain perplexed. Global Poker Index: Daniel Negreanu wins the title of Player Of The Decade
Since last week, the Global Poker Index (GPI) has been establishing a classification of the 9 best players of the decade in live poker tournaments. This website specialized in poker launched the countdown with two players each day, in a decreasing order list. The title of Best player of the decade went to the Canadian Daniel Negreanu, followed by Erik Seidel (2nd), Michael Mizrachi (3rd), Barry Greenstein (4th), John Juanda (5th), Bertrand « ElkY » Grospellier (6th), Shannon Shorr (7th), J.C. Tran (8th) and Phil Ivey (9th). The Canadian won his first WSOP bracelet at the age of 23 years old and linked up afterward numerous victories and paid places in different major tournaments: WSOP, WPT, PPT, EPT, UKIPT, LAPT

PCA 2014: 52 registered at the $100,000 Super High Roller
Since a few years, the Bahamas became a favorite destination for poker players. Like every year, this island of the Caribbean Sea opens the season with the poker tournament PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), which is for your information a step of the European Poker Tour (EPT). The PCA 2014 started on Sunday with the $100,000 Super High Roller. 52 players came in the poker room of Atlantis Resort, to participate in this event at $100,000 of buy-in. Last year, the event was won by Scott Seiver, on a field of 59 players, for a gain of $2,003,480. Last Sunday, several notable players were expected in the Bahamas, following the example of the current champion of the event, as well as the winner of the WSOP Main Event, Ryan Riess, but also players such as Steve O'Dwyer, Antonio Esfandiari, Guy Laliberté, Jonathan Duhamel, Igor Kurganov, Vanessa Selbst, Sorel Mizzi, Jason Mercier, Jason Koon, Mike Watson and Daniel Negreanu, recently elected « GPI Player of the decade ».

Tangier Millionaire Maker: A 2nd edition planned from March 12th to 16th 2014
After a first edition crowned by a success, the Tangier Millionaire Maker is coming back this year with one million dirham (90,000) for the winner. The Casino of Tangier, located in the eponym city, in the north of Morocco, will be the host of this poker tournament, more and more preferred by French players. For that purpose, numerous pro players coming from neighboring countries and from Europe, especially France and Spain, are awaited again in Morocco, for this event which should strengthen its fame with a very promising first edition. In last November, the Tangier Millionaire Maker gathered 290 registrations, including 74 re-entries. Manuel Sadornil won this first edition before Marcel Luske and Joao Correira. After a deal between these three players, Manuel Sadornil pocketed Dhs730,000, against Dhs500,000 for the two others.

GPI Player of the Decade Project: Mizrachi and Greenstein, 3rd and 4th
As announced, this week, the Global Poker Index (GPI) plans to publish the list of the 9 best players of the decade on the circuit of live poker. The publication has already started since the beginning of the week in its decreasing order. The GPI planned to publish daily two names and on Tuesday, fanatics of poker and players waited impatiently the two named for the 4th and 3th place of the « GPI Player of the Decade Project». Thus in the 3rd place of this ranking, we find Michael Mizrachi with 6,553 points. Barry Greenstein occupies the 4th place of the « GPI Player of the Decade Project » with 6,457 points. From 2004-2013, Michael Mizrachi gathered $14,537,352, while Barry Greenstein counts $6,706,250 of gain. During this period also, both players won respectively 23 and 16 major events of live poker.

Online poker: New perspective in California
In the USA, 2013 was a year of rebirth for online poker. After the abolition of the license of the three greatest poker rooms Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars and Absolute Poker on April 2011, the Department of Justice had given the authorization to the Intra State online gambling, at the end of 2011. This new law allowed them to legalize online gambling two years after the Black Friday, noticeably with the reopening of online poker, in Nevada, in New Jersey and in Delaware. Now, poker is fully developed in these three States and according to observers, the opening of this new market of online gambling in California is expected at least on 2015.

Global Poker Index: The Best player of the Decade will be known on Friday
Since its partnership with Hendon Mob, the greatest database of live poker, the Global Poker Index (GPI) became the greatest website that informs about poker players from over the world. All the profiles and the statistics of poker players in live poker tournament circuits are available on Global Poker Index. Beside the ranking of the 300 best players that is weekly updated, the GPI has recently sent a new punctual ranking that should determine the Best player of the Decade. To determine the Top 9, the GPI relies on its grading system while considering also the time factor. And as the GPI ranking Player of the year, the players eligible for the Top 9 of the Decade must have participated into a maximum of live tournaments between 2004 and 2013.

Dakar Poker Tour VII: From January 6th to 12th, at Terrou Bi hotel
The new year starts with a bang with the 7th edition of the Dakar Poker Tour (DPT). The Terrou Bi casino will be the host of this event, in the Senegalese capital from next week, from January 6th to 12th. Since its creation, the Dakar Poker Tour is one of the most preferred appointments of the African circuit. And the frame offered by the Terrou Bi hotel will be a great asset for this event which, in September of this year, gathered 105 players for the main event. During the 6th edition of the Dakar Poker Tour, the French Pierre Daw won the main event for an earning of about 30,000. In 2011, Roger Hairabedian marked his handprint in this poker tournament highly preferred by French players.

World Series of Poker 2014: An overview on the new schedule
The poker tournament World Series of Poker (WSOP) is indisputably the greatest global appointment of poker enthusiasts. For its 45th edition, the WSOP will take place for the ten successive times in the premises of the sumptuous Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino of Las Vegas. This event will start on Tuesday, May 27th 2014, for non-stop 49 days of tournament, till Monday, July 14th 2014. The World Series of Poker 2014 will be closed by the nine days of the traditional Main Event, which is going to be accessible for a buy-in of $10,000. The complete calendar hasnt been revealed yet but the organizers are already giving us an overview of what is waiting for us in 2014.
