PCA 2014: 52 registered at the $100,000 Super High Roller
Since a few years, the Bahamas became a favorite destination for poker players. Like every year, this island of the Caribbean Sea opens the season with the poker tournament PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), which is for your information a step of the European Poker Tour (EPT). The PCA 2014 started on Sunday with the $100,000 Super High Roller. 52 players came in the poker room of Atlantis Resort, to participate in this event at $100,000 of buy-in. Last year, the event was won by Scott Seiver, on a field of 59 players, for a gain of $2,003,480. Last Sunday, several notable players were expected in the Bahamas, following the example of the current champion of the event, as well as the winner of the WSOP Main Event, Ryan Riess, but also players such as Steve O'Dwyer, Antonio Esfandiari, Guy Laliberté, Jonathan Duhamel, Igor Kurganov, Vanessa Selbst, Sorel Mizzi, Jason Mercier, Jason Koon, Mike Watson and Daniel Negreanu, recently elected « GPI Player of the decade ».
At the end of the day, Martin Finger finished leader of the ranking with 829,000 chips, by outstripping Max Altergott, Isaac Haxton, Bryn Kenney, Jason Koon, Lawerence Greenberg, Justin Bonomo, Daniel Colman, Paul Newey and Philipp Gruissem. Other players like Vanessa Selbst, Matt Glantz, Ole Schemion, Jonathan Duhamel, Tony Gregg, Jason Mercier and Scott Seiver have also survived, but with stacks less than 400,000 chips. Ryan Reiss didnt survive at the Day 1, despite the re-entry option, and it was also the case of Mike Watson, Steven Silverman, Bertrand « ElkY » Grospellier and John Juanda.
