Royal Poker Challenge: A tournament at $50 million casts doubt!
High stakes poker tournaments interest amazingly professional players, rich businessmen and influential personalities. Last week, David Chen announced the holding of a high stake tournament having an international scale, which guaranteed a prize of $ 50 million. In 2012, the organization of the Big One for One Drop, tournament with a buy-in of $1 million of the World Series of Poker, has made some fanatics of poker perplexed. But about forty players have finally registered in the tournament and the winner, Antonio Esfandiari, has pocketed $18 million. Baptized Royal Poker Challenge, this new tournament under the format « winner-take-all » with a buy-in of $1 million is going to be held in Australia, under the initiative of an Australian tycoon of mining extraction. The latter has personally guaranteed a prize of $50 million for the winner. With such amount of money on stake, the list of registration was quickly full.
According to the director of the tournament, David Chen, the Royal Poker Challenge has already registered 48 confirmations, whose names havent been revealed for reasons of confidentiality. Neither the holding of the event nor the program were quite clear, but the website CardPlayer has announced that the said event will take place at the « Star Hotel and Casino » of Sydney. The establishment hasnt confirmed the reception of the Royal Poker Challenge, before bearing out the reception of a « private event » organized by the Rainbow Company, in March 30th of this year. And according to David Chen, the Rainbow Company would be the silent partner of the Royal Poker Challenge.
