Online poker: New perspective in California
In the USA, 2013 was a year of rebirth for online poker. After the abolition of the license of the three greatest poker rooms Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars and Absolute Poker on April 2011, the Department of Justice had given the authorization to the Intra State online gambling, at the end of 2011. This new law allowed them to legalize online gambling two years after the Black Friday, noticeably with the reopening of online poker, in Nevada, in New Jersey and in Delaware. Now, poker is fully developed in these three States and according to observers, the opening of this new market of online gambling in California is expected at least on 2015.
The expansion of on online gambling in Nevada, in New Jersey and in Delaware conquered completely casino operators, but all participants must be careful especially with the legalization of online gambling to avoid the cannibalization of the sector. In fact, Indian tribes influenced the sector of gambling in California with flourishing casino that spread out everywhere in the State. The State needs certainly to increase its tax revenues and the solution is based on the legalization of online gambling sector. But online gambling could outpace traditional casinos and operators are aware of that. Face to this situation, the Gambling Control Commission of California underlines that the State could consider only the legalization of online poker to limit competition.
