FPS Deauville: Niels Van Leeuwen, champion of the Season III
The grand final of the poker tournament France Poker Series of Deauville ended on Sunday with the victory of Niels Van Leeuwen. It was necessary to wait six hours to have a winner between the 8 last players, for a gain included between 21,000 and 175,000. At the beginning of the final table, Jean-Paul Vasseur was the well placed to win the title of this third season of the FPS, with a stack of 5,960,000 chips, while his direct opponent, Christophe Leroux, counted 4,055,000 chips. The six other seats of the final table were occupied by Niels Van Leeuwen with 3,790,000 chips, Fahd Kaabat (3,415,000), Corentin Ropert (3,015,000), Erwann Pécheux (2,585,000), Yehoram Houri ((2,255,000) and Mathieu Mariani (2,170,000).
The recent winner of the Deepstack Open Paris, Fahd Kaabat, was the first who left the final table, and was followed by Mathieu Mariani a few hands later, for an earning of 25,000. The professional player Erwann Pécheux fails in the 6th place for a price of 33,000. Christophe Leroux is ranked 5th (45,000), followed by Corentin Ropert (60,100) and Yehoram Houri (82,100). The elimination of the French Houri has allowed his compatriot Jean-Paul Vasseur and the Dutch Niels Van Leeuwen to meet in final heads-up. Chipleader at the start of the final table, Jean-Paul Vasseur fails in the second place of this poker event, for a gain of 115,000. Already winner of a Side Event at 1,000 in 2012 during the EPT Berlin, Van Leeuwen signs here the greatest performance of his career with a price of 175,000.
