One year after the launching of the first poker site in Nevada, the market of online poker inside the State has difficulty to find its bearings. During the first month of launching, the revenue of online poker didn’t manage to compete with other online gambling, namely casino games, slot machines and sports betting. In February, online poker generated a gain of $824,000, or the double of bingo ($490,000), but it is widely below of earnings from other online gambling in Nevada. It’s because Nevada is a small State with a «saturated market», given the limited number of players. And it’s the reason for which Nevada has signed an agreement of sharing of liquidities with Delaware, but the process is currently remaining pending. According to experts, 500 players connected at the same time are required to make online poker profitable in Nevada, while now, only 150 players are simultaneously connected on the three poker rooms approved, namely WSOP.com, Ultimate Poker and Real Gaming.

These last years, online poker in Europe knows a slowdown to the point to worry European operators and regulators. The sharing of liquidities on poker tables has been evoked several times during the meetings of main authorities of regulation of online gambling, among which those of France, Spain, Italy or Germany. But the process has become more complicated but the regulators have something to settle as a matter of priority. In fact, the sharing of liquidities on the market of poker in Europe isn’t a priority for regulators, especially after that France has retired from the project. The French amendment n°262 on the consumer law has been rejected by legislators in December 2013. This text would have allowed the country, and more precisely to the French Regulation Authority of online gambling (ARJEL), to open on the European market of online poker, thanks to the sharing of liquidities of poker tables.

The event guarantees a prizepool of €200,000 for a buy-in of €1,650. The participants benefited from a departure stack of 30,000 chips, with blinds increasing each 45 minutes. After three days of fierce competition in the poker room of the Splendid Hotel, 35 players qualified for the Day 3.

After a week of game at the poker room of Hofburg Palace, the European Poker Tour Vienna has finally found its champion. This third edition of the EPT Vienna has ended on the victory of Oleksii Khoroshenin at home. The Ukrainian has started the final table in the 7th place of the chipcount with more than 2 million chips, while the chipleader, Anthony Ghamrawi, counted more than 5 million. Among the eight finalists of this poker tournament, we found Frei Dilling, Pablo Gordillo, Timo Pfutzenreuter, Simeon Naydenov, Rumen Nanev and Marko Neumann. Oleksii Khoroshenin was left behind at the start of the final table, but his victory was simply well-earned given his performance throughout the tournament. In fact, this 27-year young man has started the Main Event of the EPT Vienna as chipleader by the Day 1A. Everyone expected an overwhelming victory of Anthony Ghamrawi at the beginning of this day of poker but Khoroshenin and Marko Neumann have realized a remarkable comeback. The last heads-up was played between Oleksii Khoroshenin and Anthony Ghamrawi.
