WPT Championship: For the first time in Atlantic City
Since last year, the city of Atlantic City has become one of the main actors of online poker in New Jersey. This increasing fame of Atlantic City has led the organizers of the World Poker Tour (WPT) to organize there the grand final of this season. In fact, the WPT Championship is going to take place in Atlantic City this week, after 11 years in Las Vegas. The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa will be the host of this great event which will close the season XII. According to the president of the establishment, Tom Ballance, the fact that the WPT Championship leaves Las Vegas for Atlantic City for the first time shows the potentiality of the State of New Jersey, and more precisely Atlantic City, in the industry of online gambling since the opening of the legal market in November of the past year. For the president of the World Poker Tour, Adam Pliska, the choice of the city was adopted to highlight the availability of online poker in New Jersey.
For this WPT Championship of Atlantic City, 10 local players qualified online from the online poker rooms of the State and 30 others qualified during the recent Borgata Spring Open. This poker tournament will last over six days, from April 21st to 26th, and is going to count 17 major events, including the Main Event at $15,000 + $400 which guarantees a prizepool of $5,000,000.
