WPT World Championship: 18 survivors at the beginning of the penultimate day
The Day 3 of the WPT World Championship ended on the qualification of 18 players for the penultimate day of the Main Event. 68 players returned in the poker room of the Borgata in Atlantic City. Eric Afriat keeps his lead at the beginning of the day and remained chipleader before the Day 4. Eric Afriat collected 2,029,000 chips at the end of the day, while his runner-up, Abe Korotki, counted 1,616,000. Other players occupy also a comfortable place at the start of the Day 4. ItÂ’s the case of Anthony Gregg (1,499,000), Ryan D'Angelo (1,369,000), Curt Kohlberg (1,097,000), Justin Young (993,000), Byron Kaverman (974,000) and Ray Qartomy (955,000). The Day 4 will be also marked by the presence of notable players like Tony Dunst, Keven Stammen, Tom Dobrilovic, Hans Winzeler, Bobby Oboodi, Byron Kaverman as well as Brock Parker.
Numerous regulars of this poker circuit failed during the day, but were eliminated in the 36 paid places for a minimum prize of $30,085: Athanasios Polychronopoulos (34th), Jason Koon (32nd), Matt Stout (30th), Loni Harwood (29th), Jonathan Tamayo (28th), Jordan Cristos (27th), Jesse Sylvia (26th), Maurice Hawkins (25th), David Daggett (22nd), Scott Seiver (21st) and Jeff Madsen (19th). Dan Walsh was the bubble boy of the ITM. The hall of famer Phil Hellmuth was among the players eliminated outside the money. The game will resume this Friday at noon with the 18 survivors of the Day 4. The challenge of this day is to be qualified for the final table of the next day reserved to the 6 best players.
