California: An audience about online poker this Wednesday
The Committee of the Assembly of the State of California organizes this Wednesday, April 23rd an audience especially focused on online poker. California is one of the States which intend the regulation of online gambling, as it is the case in New Jersey, Delaware and Nevada. But numerous subjects still remain to be discussed before the State opens to an interstate regulated market of online gambling. Thus, the hearing of the day will concern the implications of the authorization of online poker on the tax plan. The complete agenda isnt known yet but at least two points are going to be discussed. The first is about the recent controversial debate of the partnership between the operator of online poker PokerStars and several playrooms of the State, including the federal tribe of Morongo Band of Mission Indians. Note that during last month, about twelve other tribes let known their opposition on this alliance.
Two bills on the regulation of poker are also going to be discussed this afternoon. And the members of the committee are already examining the revenue which can be generated in case of adoption of one or both bills. All the attentions of the actors of online poker in the United States are fixed on California which can be the fourth State which will regulate online poker. Certainly, these two bills dont concern players inside California, but as being the greatest country of the United States, which implies an important liquidity from players, California could be able to inspire other States in an opening, sooner than planned, of the online gambling in the United States.
