Fraud in Borgota: New chips approved by the regulator of New Jersey
In last January, a poker event of the Borgata Winter Poker Open which took place at the famous Borgata casino of Atlantic City was cancelled because of fraud. In fact, the Big Stack NLHE poker tournament with a prizepool of two million dollars for a buy-in of $560 was canceled by the organizers and the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, after that the circulation of false chips was known. Three months later, the casino announces the introduction of high-tech new chips. The development of these new chips is part of the new security measures that the gambling facility has taken in order to prevent any risk of recurrence, because we have to remind that Borgata casino was subject of a legal proceedings from some participants, for not taking the necessary measures to avoid the incident. Note that the frost of the prizepool has arisen the dissatisfaction of players, among whom 27 were still in the running to win the first prize of $372,000.
Developed by Game On Chip Company, the new chips were approved in March 20th of this year by the Division of Gaming Enforcement. These new chips are more colored compared with the previous chips, and their authenticity can be checked with a black light. These new chips from $1,000 to $500,000 will be used for the first time during the next poker tournament of Borgata casino, the Spring Poker Open, planned in April from 8th to 26th, 2014. As for Christian Lusardi, the man accused for introducing counterfeit chips in Borgata casino, he is in custody before his trial whose date is still unknown.
