He also notched some excellent ITM places in other high buy-in events in the same festival, namely a 2nd-place finish in the $ 10,000 Raaz Championship, and a 3rd-place’s in the $ 5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Six-Handed. Admittedly, well deserved is his 1st position on the list.

The recently-introduced draft law in Pennsylvania, the SB 900, reportedly imposes an exorbitant tax of 54% on online poker’s GGR. This tax rate has been the core source of discord at the two hearings organized by the Community, Economic & Recreational Development Committee. Many representatives heavily criticized the clause in question. They argued that with such conditions, online poker will be profitable neither for the interested operators nor for poker players. Some even said that the decline in revenue experienced by online poker operators in Europe is partly due to inadequate fiscal conditions. In France for example, a 46% tax on Gross Gaming Product is instituted. To overcome this struggle, France’s online gaming regulatory authority ARJEL is considering a tax reform, along with possibility to establish an international player-pooling. Hence, many would suggest that the best way to ensure a better future for Pennsylvania’s online poker industry is to follow the New Jersey’s model. Recall that a 17.5% tax is levied on New Jersey’s i-poker GGR.

By beating businessman-turned poker pro Bill Klein, Jonathan Duhamel emerged victorious of the Super High-Roller One Drop, a poker tournament part of the 2015 World Series of Poker (WSOP). Admittedly, Duhamel has made an exceptional feat. He has come a long way through thin and thick before he notched it up. He actually saw himself teeing against formidable rivals, including the final day’s chip-leader Daniel Colman. The latter delivered a truly aggressive tactics but eventually fell to 3rd place. Unexpectedly, an incident occured in the poker room of Rio All Suite, delaying the heads-up’s start. A man inside the rail had a heart attack. The incident has somewhat disturbed the players but when calm returned, the game continued. Speaking of Colman, he finished 3rd place for $ 1.5 million. Yet, he dethroned Phil Ivey in the “All Time Money List”.
