21st Century Technologies, Inc. announced the launch of an ongoing poker sweepstakes promotion via its coupon retail and online trading site- prizeWise.com. The sweepstakes, which is scheduled to run until June 15th, 2005 at 12:00 AM, will send one winner to try his best hand of Texas Hold'em at the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Illinois Casinos Not Betting on Poker
With the poker room's return to the casinos of Las Vegas and other gambling hotspots across the U.S., it comes as something of a surprise that Illinois' casinos are not following suit. Despite the nation-wide poker craze that has taken hold of North America, only two of Illinois' four casinos provide Texas Hold'em, one of which closes poker its poker tables on the weekend.

Poker Tour International Gets Ready to Embark
Poker Tour International has announced tour dates for upcoming Texas Hold'em events. In March, the tour will make a stop at Circa's Hispanola Resort and Casino, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Next stop is the Norwegian Cruise Caribbean Spirit Ship in April. The tour will make additional stops in several locations in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.

Party Poker Takes Steps Toward the Stock Exchange
PartyPoker, one of the biggest poker companies around, is allegedly considering a flotation on the London Stock Exchange. The Company has appointed the firms of Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Investec Securities to help oversee strategic measures such as these. It has been reported that PartyPoker's placement within the FTSE 100 is likely.

A new online poker championship is being offered exclusively for students, seeking out the best Texas Hold'em player studying at universities across the U.S. Prizes include scholarships of various monetary values as well as all-expense-paid vacation packages for the final championship to be held in Cancun, Mexico in March. New Poker Flick Prepares to Start Production
With poker's exploding popularity, the game is popping up on more and more television networks. Poker isn't just taking over the small screen though; it's making its way to the big screen as well. Production for a new poker-themed film from Warner Bros., titled "Lucky You," is set to begin production in March on location in Las Vegas.

Harrah's Stays with Pilson Communications
Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. announced that it will continue to work with Pilson Communications, Inc., a sports television consulting firm, to continue expansions for Harrah's World Series of Poker. Harrah's will also enlist Pilson Communications for its planned renegotiations with ESPN, which is responsible for production and broadcast of televised portions of the tournament. The current contract was drafted before Harrah's acquired the World Series of Poker in the previous year.
