Simon Pettet, a math student at the U.K.'s Chester University, was recently crowned VC 2006 King of Poker at London's Cafe de Paris. Although several celebrities, including Atomic Kitten's Liz McClarnon and Rebecca Loos, attended the event, the 21-year-old managed to remain focused on the poker action. A woman was recently found guilty of poisoning her husband and stealing his money to gamble on poker machines. Rosalina Victoria Carter, a 48-year-old Mackay resident, was indicted on charges of malicious acts and fraud. The Mackay District Court found Carter guilty, and sentenced her to three years and nine months in prison. Judge Michael Shanahan decided that Carter's sentence was to be suspended after 15 months.
