Monfils passes the first round of the Masters 1000 Montreal
The Montreal tennis tournament starts in the best conditions for Gael Monfils. The French emerged victorious from his duel with Fabio Fognini. The Italian gave a start to the match that made doubt sports betting fans on a victory of Monfils, but a sore in the right wrist has decreased him over the games until he lost the match (6-3, 6-1). Gael Monfils has still managed to spread doubt on his performance in the fourth game by saving four break points on two aces and two winning services. The strength of Monfils has paid during the first set. The French won the first set on Fabio Fognini service.
Before the resumption of the second set, the Italian has requested a medical time out to treat his right wrist. Handicapped by the injury, Fognini was to give the best of him in the second set, the match seemed to be done in advance. The Italian has won just one game and tilts in two sets (6-3, 6-1). Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was also found on the court against the Croatian Borna Coric for this first round of the M1000 in Montreal. Spectators and keen on online bet attended a hotly contested match until the rain came disturbing the game. The game was stopped after three games (2-1) in favor of the French. Ten minutes later, the two players were back on the ground, but the downpour was falling again without letting the players to exchange a ball.
