Purito won the 3rd stage, Froome finishes in yellow - Tour de France
Joaquim "Purito" Rodriguez (Katusha) won on Monday the 3rd stage of the Tour de France before Chris Froome (Sky). The day was marked by a collective fall of the peloton at 55 km from the finish. The organizer subsequently decided to neutralize the race for about twenty minutes. The Spaniard was then the specialist in climbing the top of the Mur de Huy (159.5 km), but he yielded his yellow jersey to his nearest competitor, Froome. The British did not consider him to be the favorite in sport betting during this Tour, but he has a significant lead over his rivals before hitting the pavement. Indeed, Froome has 11 seconds ahead of Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) and Nairo Quintana (Movistar) and 18 seconds on Alberto Contador (Saxo-Tinkoff).
The wearer of the yellow jersey since yesterday, Fabian Cancellara, was taken in the fall of twenty runners caused by William Bonnet (FDJ) after touching the rear wheel of the bike that preceded him. Cancellara finished this race of 1,300 meters of ascent at 11'43 from Rodriguez. To come back to the victory of Purito, he perfectly managed his effort keeping his leading face to Tony Gallopin (Lotto-Soudal) during the final turn and especially by resisting to the comeback of Froome. The champion of Spain in 2007 is found at the 18th place in the provisional ranking after this victory. For the general ranking, Chris Froome is in froleading with a second ahead of Tony Martin (Etixx-Quickstep) and 13 seconds of Tejay Van Garderen (BMC). Online betting fans are eagerly awaiting the next stage with its seven cobblestone sectors joining Cambrai.
