Lucien Barrière group considers selling its 9 casino facilities - France
The France-based casino operator “Lucien Barrière group” is recently in the lookout for expansion project. It actually considers selling some of its gaming premises. The group seems determined to strengthen its position in the domestic market while launching international gaming operations. To this end, the casino operator plans to focus more on multi-offer Resort, a concept that allows the operation of a wide variety of activities in one facility: hospitality, casino, spa, entertainment shows and golf, among others. To make it happen, it would need a much more lighter weight, thus, selling its 9 casinos and 2 hotels. Casinos involved in this liquidation are those in Perros-Guirec, Carnac, Besançon, Chamonix, Briancon, Jonzac, Les Sables d'Olonne, Leucate and Dax. A call for buy-back offers has already been launched. As for the hotels, the sale concerns those in Pullman Bordeaux Lac and Mercure Niederbronn.
The Barrière-owned Casinos in Perros-Guirec and Carnac are also concerned by this Resort expansion project. Trestraou Casino in Perros-Guirec, for its part, would lay off about 50 employees. To cope with such issues, a meeting between the group’s committee and employees is expected this week in Perros-Guirec. In Carnac, the Mayor “Olivier Lepick” was informed last week by the Group at its meeting held in Lille. Interviewed, the Mayor showed confidence in the continuity of the operations, arguing that the casino has been performing well over the years. Despite all these hassles, Lepick noted that the casino in question will easily find a buyer. After all, the public service delegation of the Carnac Casino remains operational until 2020.
