MGM interested to invest in a casino project in Georgia
While the State of Georgia is thinking about the introduction of a bill aiming to legalize casino games inside the State and to authorize the opening of up to six casinos, MGM Resorts International have already proposed its project in Atlanta. It plans to invest $ 1 billion. MGM has already an approval for to build a resort and casino gambling in Springfield, but the company needs the adoption of the new law in order to operate in Atlanta. Even if the bill that the president of the Economic Development Committee, Ron Stephens, has not yet passed, he has become popular with lawmakers and he could put to vote before November 2016. The casino project in Georgia has already failed in the past, but Ron Stephens expects an increase in support of key players in the sector. Note that MGM has already hired five lobbyists to pass the bill that requires the vote of two thirds of lawmakers.
If the bill passed, six casino licenses will be distributed under the supervision of the Georgia Lottery Corp. All projects must be approved by the Board of Directors of the Georgia Lottery. Recently, MGM confirmed its interest in building a casino in Atlanta, the project includes as a reminder a luxury hotel, an entertainment area and of course a playroom. Pending the vote of the bill in Georgia, MGM already built a $ 800 million casino in Springfield whose opening is expected in September 2018. The National Harbor casino project of $ 1.2 billion near Washington DC is also in its construction phase.
