GPI 300: Phil Ivey is back in the classification
The holder of 9 World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets, Phil Ivey, is back in the Global Poker Index (GPI) ranking after getting out of the list in September 2013; and this, thanks to his victory in the poker tournament Challenge at AU$250,000 of the Aussie Millions 2014. With 1,495.21 points, he occupies the 293rd position. Its one of the greatest changes which mark the classification of this week. Its also important to quote the ascent of Mike Watson in the top 10, thanks to his 12th place in the World Poker Tour Fallsview Poker Classic (WPT), as well as the strong progress of Mike Leah, winner of the event with a buy-in of $1,100 in the WPT Fallsview, Chris Brammer, Marcel Luske and Jim Collopy. The latter has won 87 places.
Let us note that Daniel Negreanu, Ole Schemion and Marvin Rettenmaier occupy the three first place of this week. Jason Mercier and Philipp Gruissem have each progressed of one point and occupy respectively the 4th and 5th position. Loosing two points, Dan Smith is in the 6th position. Vanessa Selbst (7th), Mike McDonald (8th) and Shannon Shorr (10th) complete the top 10. Concerning the ranking GPI Player of the Year, no change has been noticed at the level of the top 3. Mike McDonald remains at the top, followed by Dominik Panka and Dan Smith. On the other hand, we have to mention the phenomenal rise of Jeremy Nock. After his victory in the High Roller at £3,300 of the SkyPoker Uk Poker Championship and his 4th place in the side event of the Paris Open of Poker, this British pro of poker has won 111 places and is now in the 11th position.
