Adrian Mateos leads the 51 survivors heading to Day 3 - 2014 WPT Nottingham Main Event
The guaranteed prize pool of £ 1,000,000 of the £ 3,000 World Poker Tour Nottingham Main Event has been exceeded as 354 entries are recorded during the two starting day flights, bringing the total payouts to £ 1,062,000. The end of Day 2 battle sees 51 players survive and remain in the hunt for the £ 200,000 first-place prize. Held in the prestigious Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club, the poker tournament features 45 In The Money places with a minimum gain of £ 6,000. Adrian Mateos bags Day 2 up as the chip leader. He entered the battle with 181,200 chips to amass 560,500 chips when the play was over. Recall that Adrian Mateo won the WPT Europe Main Event in 2013. This year, he has a great change to grab another WPT title. Behind him in chip-count are Christos Kyprianou and Ben Warrington with 525,500 and 507,000 chips respectively.
A number of notable poker players also have a fairly impressive stack heading to Day 3: Phillip Mighall (481,000 chips), Najib Kamand (428,000 chips), David Peters (403,500 chips), Sergi Reixach (383,000 chips), William Chattaway (373,000 chips) and Matas Cimbolas (372,000 chips). While some of them, including David Peters, Antoine Saout, Jake Cody, Antonio Buonanno, Chris Moorman and Varbaek Morten Mortensen remain in the race, many are those who hit the rail so earlier than expected. The unlucky ones include Michael Mizrachi, Marvin Rettenmaier, Steve Watts, Dominik Nitsche, JP Kelly and Bryn Kenney. The 45 ITM-place finishers will be known sooner when the bubble bursts on Day 3, after only six eliminations.
