Vanessa Selbst crowned
The freshly-completed tournament organized by Poker Central, the new TV channel that provides exclusive coverage of poker events, has been a smashing success. Named "Super High Roller Celebrity Shootout ", the event attracted a celebrity-packed field of the industry's big names, all battling it out at the Aria Casino, Las Vegas. Emerging victorious of the race was Vanessa Selbst. Admittedly, Selbst has come a long way to claim the top prize. Actually, she found herself facing formidable opponents all along her way up to the final showdown. One after the other, she knocked out Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth and Antonio Esfandiari. As for Kevin Pollak, Selbst's eventual heads-up rival, he sent Don Cheadle, Norm McDonald, Brad Garrett and Hank Azaria to the rail.
It is still worth mentioning that Vanessa Selbst was the only female participant in the race. Of course, there was quite a large timeframe during which Selbst disappeared from the poker tournament landscape as she has reportedly been pursuing a philanthropic path. Despite all this, Selbst remains one of those successful female poker players; and she has just proved it. Her poker résumé is actually filled with trophies. The top highlight: Vanessa Selbst is the only female poker player scooping three World Series of Poker bracelets. Her other notable achievements include a 1st-place finish in the 2010 Partouche Poker Tour, as well as the 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Super High Roller. Thanks to these various feats, the freshly-crowned Super High Roller Celebrity Shootout champion totals $ 11.6 million in career cashes. Interviewed, Vanessa Selbst said she is planning to take a portion of her earnings to finance her foundation, Venture Justice. Obvious as it is, another portion will be used as her bankroll while the remaining cashes would go as a family saving.
