Asher Connif claimed the title - 2015 WPT Championship
April 2015 is a truly rosy month for poker pro Asher Connif. He has just wrapped the 2015 World Poker Tour Championship up by claiming the top prize. A couple of weeks prior to this victory, the Broklyn-based man had won the 2015 Borgata Spring Poker Open $ 1 million guaranteed $ 560 buy-in kick-off poker tournament by topping a massive field of 2,408 players. As a reward, he had cashed $ 203,231, along with 540 Card Player "Player of the Year" points. This is actually the second World Poker Tour Grand Final held in Atlantic City, New Jersey. 239 players battled it out at the Borgata Casino Hotel & Spa. But it was Asher Connif who eventually sealed the $ 15,000 buy-in NLHE Main Event win. Apart from the $ 973,683 prize-money, Connif was also granted 1,152 Card Player "Player of the Year" points. He is currently ranked 14th in the Card Player POY race; he now garners 1,692 total points, and $ 1,176,914 in year-to-date earnings.
Asher Connif successfully emerged victorious of a tough final table by besting a number of high-profile poker players, including the three-time WPT champion and WPTs all-time leading money winner Carlos Mortensen, former WPT champ Tony Dust, and two-time WSOP bracelet winner Brian Yoon. Too weak to outstrip Connif in the heads-up, Alexander Lakhov fell to 2nd-place for $ 573,779 while Brian Yoon finished 3rd place for $ 330,358, Carlos Mortensen 4th ($ 267,764), Ray Qartomy 5th ($ 208.647) and Tony Dunst 6th ($ 173,873).
