High Roller events among the highlights - EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final 2015
After the Hollywood Poker Open St. Louis (United States) with Mrs Linda Lieder as the winner, all eyes are now set on the Old Continent and its famed poker tournament, the European Poker Tour. Indeed, the tour is landing in Monte Carlo this week with a Grand Final. Featuring 78 events, this EPT Season 11 Grand Final will kick tomorrow at Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. This 11-days poker festival is packed with enticing events, four of which will expectedly seduce a great number of participants: the 100,000 buy-in Super High Roller, the 50,000 Super High Roller, the 25,000 High-Roller, and the highly anticipated 10,600 buy-in Main Event.
The European Poker Tours High Roller events have always attracted a massive field of entrants thanks to its gigantic prize pool. This year, 40 players have already confirmed their being in the 100,000Super High Roller. Include the likes of Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Sam Trickett, Mike McDonald, Antonio Esfandiari, Max Altergott, Erik Seidel, Talal Shakerchi, Isaac Haxton and Dan Smith. Last year, it was Daniel Colman who won the battle by besting a field of 62 players. As for the 50,000 Super High Roller, it features an interesting format with a Turbo event on two 30 minutes levels of play for a starting stack of 200,000 chips. That of the other High Roller events is set to 250,000 chips. Of course, the Main Event is the No.1 highlight of the festival. However, High Roller events have increasingly gained popularity among EPT regulars. Recall that Philipp Gruissem cashed the top prize of 993,963 (out of the 5,243,000 prize pool) last year by winning the 50,000 Super High Roller. He topped a 214-player field.
