Paul Griffin notched the win - WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown
Paul Griffin has just set the whole Hollywood poker community alight by winning the World Poker Tour (WPT) Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown. Two years ago, this talented poker player was just a newbie in the field. Indeed, the $ 3,500 buy-in event seduced 1,476 entrants, only 6 of whom contended for the title on the ultimate day. With an impressive stack heading to the final table, Paul Griffin successfully maintained his lead to send a number of notable poker pros to the rail. Include the likes of Ryan Rivers who fell to 6th-place, Brian Green (5th-place), Shawn Nguyen (4th-place) and Andre Crooks (3rd-place). The final showdown saw Paul teeing himself against Joe Ebanks, the winner of the $ 10,000 buy-in NLHE 6-Max, a poker event part of the 2011World Series of Poker (WSOP) schedule.
Ebanks entered the heads-up with 26,475,000 in chips. As for Paul, he only had 17,750,000 and a strong determination. It only took eight hands for Paul to reclaim the lead. He would keep the pace until the ultimate hand. Then other 25 hands would be played and Ebanks surrendered. For his feat, Paul Griffin cashed the top prize of $ 1 million, along with the title. As a runner-up, Joe Ebanks would console himself with $ 615,000.
