Evangelos Tsairis on top of the leaderboard prior to Day 1B - EPT Malta 2015
The first edition of the European Poker Tour Malta (EPT) kicked off last week in the Portomaso Casinos poker room. While the High Roller has just been wrapped up with Dzmitry Urbanovich claiming the win, the EPT Malta Main Event run its Day 1 flight on Sunday. 260 players joined the festival for 5,300 of entry-fee each. And after eight levels of play, only 142 players would remain in the race. Evangelos Tsairis is leading the pack with 180,300 chips. Trailing behind him are Ignat Liviu (161, 900), Thomas Berends (144,200), Alexander Ivarssonv (138,300), Alec Torelli (133,100), Thomas Muehloecker (121,200), Ilkin Amirov (116,000), John O`Shea (114,200) and Francois Billard (110,000). Ryan Yu (106,900) completes the chip counts Top 10 in this poker event.
Actually, Evangelos Tsairis is a regular participant in such big tournament. His biggest performance was a 3rd place finish in the $ 1,080 buy-in 2013 Caesars Palace Mega Stack event to earn $ 171,886 of prize. Interestingly enough, Tsairis recently finished 18th at the 2015 EPT Deauville for $ 25,122. Alec Torelli, Jack Salter, Dominik Panka, Fabrice Soulier, Theo Jorgensen and Ole Schemion successfully made it through the next phase while others will need to re-enter on Day 1B this Monday. Include the like of Timothy Adams, Liv Boeree, Stephen Chidwick and Adrian Mateos. Thus, Day 1B is expected to draw much attendees. Recall that the Malta has been introduced to the 2015 EPT schedule as a replacement of the unsuccessful San Remos leg of the tour.
