WPT poised to include Amsterdam as part of its schedule - Netherlands
The World Poker Tour (WPT) recently announced that the Tour signed a 4-years partnership with Holland Casino. Included in the deal is the annual holding of both the WPT Main Tour and WPT National Tour at this casino facility. Since there is a notable number of Netherlands-based live poker players out there, most of whom have gained final-table cashes on the Tour, that is reportedly part of the reasons why the WPT management board, headed by WPT President Adam Pliska, decided to include Amsterdam as part of the WPT schedule. With the WPT Amsterdam and WPT National Amsterdam to be held this year, reality is that the whole Netherlands will be abuzz. The WPT Amsterdam will be held from May 9 to 16 with the 3,300 buy-in Main Event as the highlight. The festival will kick off on May 11, featuring two starting flights, including a daily re-entry. Also listed on the menu are qualifying 330 buy-in satellite events.
Note that the WPT Amsterdam menu includes a 6,000 buy-in High Roller, a 1,500 Big Stack and another panel of poker tournaments ranging from 300 to 750 of entry-fee. In September, the World Poker Tour will return to the Netherlands for the WPT National Valkenburg. Featuring a truck-load of events, this Valkenburg leg of WPT National is sure to lure many players into participation, especially with the 750 buy-in Main Event and the 1,500 buy-in High Roller. Last year, it was Niels van Leeuwen who won the WPT National Valkenburg title. He crushed a massive field of 224 players.
