A record-breaking field of 24,000 players expected for Colossus - WSOP 2015
The 2015 menu of the WSOP poker tournament actually includes a truly succulent dish. A field of 24,200 customers are expected to join this feast. Named "Colossus", this 46th annual World Series of Poker event is accessible for a buy-in of $ 565, guaranteeing a prize pool of $ 5 million. To make this targeted record attendance happen, the Colossus is betting on its re-entry format that allows prematurely-eliminated players to re-enter the game at any time. Colossus, as related by the WSOP on Monday, could be the largest live tournament in poker history. It will take place at Rio All Suite in Las Vegas, with its casino spaces and convention center to be used as a hosting poker room. Obvious as it is, Rio possesses the needed physical capacities to host such number of participants. Besides, the Colossus tournament features four starting days with two different sessions.
By paying $ 565 of entry-fee, players can join the battle on the day they feel like playing it. Those who would fail to qualify for the next phase can still re-enter by paying $ 565 of re-entry fee. Recall that all these starting flights include 10 and 40-minute levels of play, equaling approximatively 8 hours of clash. Unlike the standard nine-handed table, Colossus will be set to 10. The final table of this event is slated to conclude on June 2, but it would reportedly be extended to the following day. It is also worth mentioning that the latest record-breaking attendance figure in WSOPs history is the 8,773-player field of the 2006 WSOP main event.
