Yuguang Li claimed two wins - Macau Poker Cup 22
The City of Dreams had been festivily illuminated by a great poker festival since February 27: the Macau Poker Cup (MPC). This 22nd annual MPC concluded Sunday with Yuguang Li grabbing two first-place cashes, the first being at the Red Dragon Main Event, the second, HK $ 80,000 High Roller. It was last Friday that China-based Yuguang Li won the Red Dragon Main Event for HK $ 1,848,000 (USD $ 240,000) by topping a field of 987 players. He would immediately join the HK$ 80,000 High Roller event, at the end of which he emerged victorious to cash HK $ 1,647,000 (USD $ 212,000). With these two consecutive victories, Li is now breaking into the Asian pokers history. Prior to this incredible achievement, Lis record includes three Macao-held tournament victories. His overall earnings are now amount to $ 3,495,000 (USD $ 450,000).
67 players, including high profile players Bryan Huang, David Steicke, Mikal Blomlie and Rono Lo, were in the hunt for this MCP 22s High Roller, 34 of whom were qualified for Day 2 battle. And only 7 would make the money. Kicked out to 8th place, Thomas Ward went home empty-handed. Stephen Chidwick entered the final table as a chip leader. However, he did not weigh that much facing Li Yuguang in the ultimate clash. UKs Chidwick was awarded HK $ 1,048,000 (USD $ 134,954) for his runner-up finish in this HK$ 80,000 High Roller event while Andrey Kotelnikov completed the podium (3rd place) for HK $ 699,000 (USD $ 90,012) of prize. PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room will, once again, play host to the ACOP Platinum Series from April 21, and the APPT Macau from May 20 to 31.
