13 trophies awarded - American Poker Awards 2015
The Global Poker Index (GPI) has just celebrated its American Poker Awards 2014 at SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. The ceremony was animated by gorgeous TV presenter and talented female poker player Kara Scott. Of the 13 awards distributed during this event, most of them were set down by the panel of jury. As for the Player and Female Player of the Year awards, the winners are determined according to the current GPIs Player of the Year standings. Note that this years American Poker Awards crowns both American and Canadian poker players with stunning career achievement in 2014. Daniel Colman (4,141.91 points) and Vanessa Selbst (2,431.88 points) secured the drivers seat to respectively be crowned Player of the Year and Female Player of the Year. As a reminder, Daniel Colman emerged victorious in the 2014 WSOP Big One for One Drop for $ 15,306,668 of prize along with a golden bracelet.
Speaking of the other categories, the award for Media Person of the Year was given to Chris Grove, the Industry Personality of the Year to WPT President Adam Pliska; Shack-Harris was the Breakout Player of the Year (Brandon) , and Mark Newhouse received the Tournament Performance of the Year award. For a buy-in of $ 2,000 and less, WSOPs Monster Stack is the Event of the Year (category I) while the 2014 WSOP Main Event secured the category II (buy-in of up to $ 2,000) award. The Poker Innovation and Initiative of the Year award was given to Twitch Opens Its Doors Live streaming Poker, the Charitable Initiative of the Year to All In for Kids Poker Tournament, a helping-hand initiative of the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia & WPT Foundation; Brad Willis (blogger) won the Poker Media Content of the Year award, Daniel Negreanu claimed the Pokers Best Ambassador, and the Lifetime Achievement In Poker trophy chose Steve Lipscomb.
