Victory Carlo Savinelli emerged victorious in the High Roller event - WiPT 2015
Early this week, Cercle-Clichy Montmartre , one of the most-frequented gambling club in Paris, had been the meeting point of all poker enthusiasts punching their tickets to the Winamax Poker Tour (WiPT). They were qualified via 38 free qualifying events run in 43 different cities. Thursday night, only 9 players remained in the hunt for the top prize of the 1,500 buy-in WiPT High Roller. By topping a massive field of 176 participants, Italys Carlo Savinelli clinched victory after a knotty clash against Frances Frederic Coranson. As a runner-up, the latter consoled himself with 40,000 of prize. The highly talented Italian player now adds 55,000 to his impressive career earnings. This is actually his first win among the four major poker tournaments he participated in over the past three months. As a reminder, Carlo Savinelli finished second place in the World Poker Tour National Paris in December 2014, reached two ITM places in the EPT Deauville, and final-tabled the WPT National Brussels- High Roller. Now, his overall career earnings nearly amount to $ 1 million.
Securing the lead from Day 1, Carlo Savinelli wrapped up the Thursday night battle by crushing Frederic Coranson for 40,000. Falling to 3rd place is Jean-Michel Texier France ( 26,500). Lianmin Bai of China finished 4th place for 19,500. In terms of elimination, he was preceded by Benjamin Souriau (5th, 14,600), Jean-Marc Achiary (6th, 11,600), Eric Souvay (7th, 9,600), Steven Coutereel (8th, 8,300) and Gaëlle Baumann (9th, 7,100). Talented poker lady Gaëlle Baumann entered the final table as a chip leader. However, she failed to keep up her pace and eventually found herself out of the race early after the cards were in the air. As for Jean-Marc Achiary, a regular customer at Clichy, was the short stack of the final table; he managed to make further steps ahead before he fell to 6th place.
