Manny Stavropoulos as winner - Aussie Millions Main Event 2015
Manny Stavropoulos has just emerged victorious from the most-liked poker tournament in the Asia-Pacific region. Indeed, Australias Stavropoulos dominated the 2015 Aussie Millions Poker Championship Main Event; he topped a gigantic field of 648 players. Last Sunday was the ultimate day with only seven players returning to the Crown Casinos poker room (in Melbourne) after a week-long poker battle. Anthony Legg, Brian Rast, Richard Lyndaker, Joel Douaglin, Manny Stavropoulos, James Rann and Lennart Uphoff, all played a good fight at the start of the day. But the the tiny field gradually trimmed to 2, with Manny Stavropoulos and Lennart Uphoff remaining in the race. Though Uphoff entered the ultimate battle with a 2-to-1 chip advantage over Stavropoulos, the latter gradually managed to garner an important number of chips to eventually win the title.
Any way, both men agreed on a deal, seeing Stavropoulos cash AU$ 1,285,000, Uphoff AU$ 1,214,500, and AU$ 100,000 remains on the table with the gold bracelet. As agreed, Manny Stavropoulos went home with $ 1,385,500 and a glittering gold bracelet while runner-up Lennart Uphoff cashed the consolation prize of $ 1,214,500. Richard Lyndaker was the first player to head to exit. His 7th place finish allowed him to earn $ 160,000 though. Anthony Legg fell to 6th place for $ 235,000. Few hands later, two-timeWorld Series of Poker champ Brian Rast joined the bench for $ 315,000. James Rann and Joel Douaglin were eliminated after the dinner break. They respectively went home with $ 430,000 (4th place) and $ 630,000 (3rd place).
