WPT Alpha8: Jason Mercier grabbed the $ 727,500 first-place prize

After a pretty long radio silence, Jason Mercier emerges to win his 19th live poker tournament title of his career by crushing Kathy Lehne in the heads-up of the 2014 World Poker Tour Alpha8 St. Kitts $100,000 buy-in Super High Roller No-Limit Hold’em Main Event on Saturday. Held at the Royal Beach Casino of St. Kitts, West Indies, the battle saw 15 participants. His first-place in St. Kitts allowed him to add $ 727,500 of gain to his overall poker earnings. This is actually the first title win of the year for Jason Mercier over six final-table finishes. Lucky enough, he finished runner-up both in the 2014 WPT Bellagio $ 100,000 buy-in Super High Roller (for $ 1,622,181of prize) and the 2014 EPT Barcelona € 10,300 buy-in High Roller for € 623,682.

His year-to-date earnings now total $ 3,506,084. With $ 13,456,326 of lifetime career earnings, Mercier is currently ranked 10th place on the "all time live tournament earnings list." In addition to the title, the American poker pro also earned 600 Card Player “Player of the Year” points (POY race). By considering all this, his fresh WPT title win would see him ranked 7th place on the Global Poker Index standings.
