GPI Players of the year: Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis as sponsor
As is the tradition at the Global Poker Index (GPI), it annually awards the best players of the year. This year, the GPI has signed a partnership deal with Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis. The agreed sponsorship would see Roger Dubuis supply each of the GPI Players of the Year 2014 in America, Europe and Asia with high quality luxury watches. Indeed, those who will be named Poker Player of the Year in these continents will be given "La Monegasque-designed timepieces as an award. The partnership marks a strong commitment of the Roger Dubuis in helping the GPI materialize its sportify project. Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis is actually the non-gambling sponsor to partner with highly renowned poker tournament organizers. After all, watches and bracelets designed by big brands have become common awards in live tournaments such as the World Series of Poker (WSOP), the World Poker Tour (WPT) or the European Poker Tour (EPT).
These major poker events are sponsored by leading watchmaking manufacturers for high end awards. Serving as an illustration is the European Poker Tour joining hands with Slyde or the World Poker Tour, partnering with Hublot. Global Poker Index CEO, Alexandre Dreyfus, is excited with this freshly signed partnership with Roger Dubuis. He cherished that the Roger Dubuis shared the same commitment as the GPI in sportifying the game of poker. Via its Global Poker League and Global Poker Masters, coupled by the deal with the Swiss watchmaker, GPIs head Dreyfus is well determined to boost the marketing potential of poker.
