Brazilian Series of Poker: Brazils Wilson Calixto claimed the first-place prize
As expected, many were the poker enthusiasts joining a 100 % poker festival, the Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP), held at the Sheraton WTC in São Paulo, Brazil. Hosting 36 events, including the BSOP Main Event called BSOP Millions, the poker room of Sheraton WTC vibrated under an exciting nine-day series of poker battle with a total prize pool of $ 2.7 million ($7 million Brazilian reais). Since its creation in 2006, the BSOP is the second most popular poker tournament in the world behind the like of Las Vegas, the World Series of Poker. Recall that the previous edition was won by Murilo "muka_gaming" Ruiz. He had cashed R$868,100 by topping a gigantic field of 2,400 players.
This year, the BSOP Millions trophy remains in Brazil with local player, Wilson Calixto, claiming the R$ 1.05 million first-place prize, approximately US$ 420,000. 10 players were hunting the title on the ultimate day; however, the final table of the BSOP Main Event would only see 8 survivors. After 30 minutes of play, the final table of eight was set following the elimination of Marcel Carli and Adecir Cassol. After a decisive battle against Luiz Duarte and Lucas Iglesias, Calixto Wilson eventually notched victory. Respectively ranked 2nd and 3rd place, Luiz settled with R$ 710,000 (deal) whilst Lucas earned R$790,000. Humberto Meireles was the first to leave the final table for R$105,000, followed by Sebastian Ruiz (7th, R$125,000), Neném Brito (6th, R$150,000), Anderson Cruz (5th, R$205,000) and Ednei Carrilho (4th, 314,400).
