Dylan Wilkerson hit the top prize - WPT Emperors Palace Poker Classic-Johannesburg
The World Poker Tour (WPT) wrapped up its South African leg last weekend in Johannesburg. This event was run at the Emperors Palace Casino Hotel and was concluded with the victory of Dylan Wilkerson. Earlier this year, In February and March, Dylan second-placed two WPT events, the WPT Fallsview Poker Classic and the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star. This time, the San Francisco native rallied in Johannesburg to claim his very first WPT title. OF the166 players who participated in the WPT Emperors Palace Poker Classic Main Event, only 17 made it through the ultimate-day flight for the title.
Aaron Overton bagged up the final days chip lead. He boasted himself with 752,000 chips. Running for the poker tournament title with a fairly big stack were Richard Barnard (456,000), Seth Berger (244,000), Dylan Wilkerson (185,000) and Lacey Jones (132,000). The 166-player field was played down to 7 for the final table. When the bubble burst, Seth Berger hit the rail to 7th place. A number of notable players also found their own run cut early in the WPT title race held in the Emperors Palaces poker room: Jaime Vileta (15th place), Roman Szymonowicz (14th) and Lacey Jones (11th). After a tough heads-up against Richard Barnard, Dylan Wilkerson ultimately emerged victorious. He was awarded $ 147,509 of prize while runner-up Banrard cashed $ 85,651. Diane Crous secured 3rd place for $ 54,721, followed by Chris Convery (4th, $ 38,543), Aaron Overton (5th, $ 29,740) and Darryn Lipman (6th, $ 22,602).
