The Main Event now reaches its final table - WPT National Philippines 2014
The World Poker Tour National Philippines was up to the expectations. After a few days of battle in the poker room of Solar Resort and Casino-Manila, the 385-player field was played down to 6 contenders for the PHP6.9 million first-place prize. As a reminder, 385 players participated in this poker tournament. At the end of Day 3, only 6 participants remained in the hunt for the title. The 385-player field generated a total prize pool of 32.9 million Peso Filipinos. Of course, the one who will best the remaining field will cash PHP 6.9 million. Any way, the other finalists will also be sweetly rewarded with seven-score prizes. Actually, the first to leave Solar Resort and Casino will earn PHP 1.4 million, the fifth place will be rewarded PHP 1.7 million while fourth will pocket PHP 2.3 million, PHP 3.1 million for the third and PHP 4.8 million for the runner-up.
The 6 WPTN Philippines title contenders will return to Parañaque City-based Sun Resort and Casino this Monday for the ultimate battle. Andrew Gaw remains the only local player running for the final table. Winner of the Asian Poker Tour Head-Up championship, Gaw is a regular participant in major poker tournament held in the Asia-Pacific region; he has final-tabled multiple events in the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) and the Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP). In order to fill his resume with a WPT title, Andrew Gaw will have to knock out chipleader-of-the-day Min Fei Chow of Malaysia (1,690,000 chips), Swedens Douglas Olsson (1,645,000 chips ), Japans Yuichi Sumida (1,640,000),Tetsuya Tsuchikawa (805,000) and the other Malaysian Kevin Ang (425,000).
