Ayub Ali hailed victory in the Genting Poker Series DTD Main Event
Dust Till Dawn poker room, Nottingham, was hot Sunday night with the Genting Poker Series 2014 (GPS). The event was wrapped up with Ayub Alis win. The £ 440 Main Event actually recorded 632 entrants whilst last year it had seduced 935 participants. Despite this drop in attendance, the event featured a great time of fun and excitement. 71 players made the money in the battle, and shared out the guaranteed prize pool of £ 252,800 with a minimum payday of £ 880. Numerous were notable players who made it through comfortable In The Money places: Lee Tatters (11th), Mark McCluskey (13th), Yucel "Mad Turk" Eminoglu (16th), Leon Campbell (18th), Ben Martin (19th), Gurnam Rana (22), Rob Sherwood (26th) and Stuart Fox (29th) were among them.
The field was quickly trimmed to nine players on the last day. Ayub Ali dominated the play as he deprived Ellie Biessek from winning her second Genting Poker Series title. As for Mark Elliott, he hit the third place rail. A deal between the three players reshaped the payout sharing as follows: £ 40,255 for the winner, £ 50,680 for the runner-up and £ 35,760 for the third. The fourth place went to Chris Sly for £ 17,500, followed by Zigmantas Jockus in the 5th place (£ 12,750), then Steve Watts (6th, £ 9,500), Hamid Rowshanaei (7th, £ 7,500), Michael Howard (8th, £ 5,500) and Eirimas Livonas (9th, £ 3,750). After Nottingham, the Genting Poker Series will visit Edinburghs Genting Club from October 29 to November 2. Last year, Mark Lane concluded the GPS Edinburgh poker tournament by besting a 352-player field.
