Ben Bianco secures chip leader heading to Day 1B of the WPT Borgata Poker Open
After the World Poker Tour Merit Classic North Cyprus which ended with the victory of Russian Alexander Lakhov for $ 310,000, season XIII of the WPT has been in full swing at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Atlantic City, for two weeks now. It is about the Borgata Poker Open, a poker event featuring 24 tournaments with a buy-in of $ 400 to $ 3,500. As to be expected, the $ 3,500 buy-in event is the highly anticipated one by poker fans. Indeed, the $ 3,500 Main Event of the WPT Borgata Poker Open seduced 400 participants on Sunday, the first starting day of the battle. At the end of that Day 1A, only 172 made it through the next stage. Ben Bianco leads the remaining 172-player field heading to Day 1B after a tough clash against Allyn Shulman. As a bonus, chip leader Ben Bianco was awarded a pair of Monster Headphones.
With his 389,000 chips, Ben Bianco is well ahead of Andrew Atkinson (234,900 chips), Allyn Shulman (231,200), Ray Shackelford (207,700), Travell Thomas (196,600), Ami Alibay (168.000), Cornel Cimpan (166,900), Lily Kiletto (157,000) and Thomas Winters (155,000); Curt Kohlberg completes the top 10 chip counts of Day 1A with 155,000 chips in hand. Day 1A was also marked by the presence of the defending WPT World Champion Keven Stammer. Unfortunately, the American poker pro was prematurely eliminated by Justin Oliver. The second flight of this poker tournament, Day 1B, will take place on Monday, and it is expected to attract as many participants as on Day 1A.
