Daniel Gagnon wins the Main Event 2014 Playground Poker Montreal Festival
Daniel Gagnon emerged victorious of the new edition of the Playground Poker Montreal Festival Main Event. As a reminder, the festival kicked off Friday August 22, but the main event of $ 1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool was held on August 29. 1,063 poker players joined the $ 1,100 buy-in Main Event at Playground Poker Club of Montreal, Canada. After six days of play, including three-day flights (1A, 1B and 1C), the Poker Playground Montreal Festival Main Event saw the field reduced to nine players. Daniel Gagnon ranked atop in terms of chip count at the start of the final table with 6,990,000 chips; he was shortly followed by Noeung Troeung with 5,415,000 chips. With more than 3 million chips, John Helou, Michael Mellor and Nguyen Thi also entered the final table game with a comfortable lead over other finalists including Yannick Lamarre-Delooz, Alexander Lavigne, Lorne Wechsler and Daniel Gagnon.
Lorne Wechsler was the first to leave Playground Poker Club. He cashed $ 15,360 for his ninth place. As for Alex Lavigne, he fell to eighth place for $ 20,620. Daniel Gagnon, Michael Mellor and John Helou respectively finished seventh ($ 28,350), sixth ($ 40,720) and fifth place ($ 53,100). A few minutes later, Yannick Lamarre-Delooz also took exit with $ 72,690. He was followed by super poker womanThi Nguyen ($ 89,700), eliminated in level 35. Daniel Gagnon remained in the lead until the last hand of the head-up with 4 to 1 chip advantage over Noeung Troeung. Speaking of the prize, Gagnon took home a sweet sum of $ 190,750 while the poker tournament awarded runner-up Noeung Troeung a consolation check of $ 125,410.
