62 survivors remain in the hunt for the title - Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open
Indeed, Seminole Hard Rock Casino of Hollywood has run the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open (SHRPO) despite an incident this gambling facility has experienced in recent days. As the European Poker Tour Barcelona along with the World Poker Tour Legends of Poker launched later than planned, few were the poker player who made the trip to Florida to participate in the SHRPO event. And despite the drop in attendance this year, 1,499 participants against 2,384 entries in 2013, the organizers have decided to maintain the guaranteed prize pool of $ 10 million for the 300 best players in this $ 5,300 poker tournament. The 2014 edition of SHRPO embodies an overlay of $ 2.5 million, that is, a prize pool of 7.5 million, a great sum to be won compared to a mere 600 000 prize of the ISPT Wembley.
Actually the decline of attendees does not seem to taint the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, at least for this year, but could also serve as a wake-up call to scale back the prize pool guarantee of the Main Event. Regarding this massive overlay, organizers took such encouraging responsibility allowing the tournament to run well after four days of play. In fact, 62 survivors of the previous flight will enter Day 3 battle. Notable poker players, ranging from Matt Salsberg to Marvin Rettenmaier, Brian Hastings and Vinny Pahuja as well are no longer part of the field, but some manage to secure comfortable places, and remain in contention for the title sweetened by a $ 1,446,710 prize: Defending Champion Blair Hinkle, Jared Jaffee, Mohsin Charania, Lily Kiletto and November Niners Russell Thomas and John Racener. John Dolan leads the remaining 62-player field in chip counts; he will enter the game with 3,005,000 chips in hands. Farhan Madhani is also well-placed with a stack of 2,191,000 chips.
