Randy Bowie chip-led Day 1A flight - WPT Legends of Poker Main Event 2014
The World Poker Tour (WPT) landed last Saturday in the poker room of Bicycle Casino, Bell Gardens (California State, USA) by kicking off the WPT Legends of Poker. Featuring an innovative and attractive concept, this poker event did seduce 156 participants on Day 1A, a figure mirroring its eventual success. As a reminder, players eliminated on Day 1A were given the opportunity to try their luck again on Day 1B or pay a buy-in of $ 10,000 to be able to compete for the Day 2A. The Day 1A field is composed of a bunch of poker stars and former WPT champions. Owen Crowe, Scott Clements, Matt Salsberg, Todd Terry, Mike Secton, Ryan Riess, Joe Tehan and Brandon Crawford made it through this day. As for Andy Frankenberger, Dan Heimiller, Will Faill, Freddy Deeb and the defending Champion Jordan Cristos, they will have to re-enter to get back to the final table.
Note that this first qualifying day ended with Randy Bowie securing chipleader place with 217,800 chips in hand. Bowie played his hands well by ousting Chris Moorman early prior to the end of the day. Massoud Eskandari finished in the second position with 215,400 chips. Andrew Shack (209,800 chips), Owen Crowe (190,800), Matt Salsberg (187,700), Scott Clements (186,500), Ryan Riess (163,000), Steve Pilot (157,800), Macradij Yacoublan (152,100), Jason Dewitt (149,700 ) completed the Top 10 chip counts heading to Day 2. It is worth mentioning that the Day 1B began on Sunday around 1:00 in the afternoon; this time, organizers expect a record-breaking field.
